What is the difference between a representative sample and an unrepresentative sample?

The student must also reply to at least (2) classmates using a minimum of 150 words per reply by Sunday before 11:59 PM. All replies in the discussion forum should enhance the discussion. Non-informative messages posted in the discussion forum will not be counted towards the required number of replies for that topic. Each peer response must answer the peer question and must include two references and citations as stated above

QUESTION 1: What is convenience sampling? Give an example of when a researcher would use convenient
sampling?
QUESTION 2: What is the difference between a representative sample and an unrepresentative sample? Explain.

What are some of the ethical issues Lululemon caused?

Case Study #3 Written Review Case Information: “Lululemon: Encouraging a Healthier Lifestyle” Ferrell (Case 12). Objective: Prepare a written review (APA, 5 pages including cover and reference pages, and cite at least 2 outside sources) that answers the following questions: At this point, in the course, you should be able to incorporate terms and the ethical philosophies employed by the authors of the text. Further, you need to support your statements with evidence or explain your deductive reasoning. Deductive reasoning is very important in supporting our views, as not all views have concrete evidence.
1. What are some of the ethical issues Lululemon caused? (no need for different perspectives for this question. Just analyze this question.)
2. How has Lululemon dealt appropriately with ethical issues that the authors of this case study fail to comprehend? You are trying to see where Lululemon did the right things and the authors are portraying them as doing the wrong things. The reverse is also true, i.e., Lululemon is being portrayed as doing things right, but are actually doing the wrong things. You want to look for different ways to think about the various ethical issues the authors point out in this case, i.e., how to spin them in a more positive light.)
3. How is Lululemon perceived by the various stakeholders (except employees?) (You ought to see where some stakeholders see Lululemon differently.)
4. How ethical do you believe that the employees of Lululemon see their company and its management? (You ought to be able to see that employees have different perspectives.)
5. To avoid negative publicity and ethical challenges going forward, what steps should Lululemon take to improve its image among: (A) customers and (B) employees? (You are using your analysis and evaluation skills to answer this question.)
6. How do the issues raised in this case agree with a Christian Worldview?

Discuss the failure in light of cost, schedule, scope, quality, and organizational strategy alignment as applicable.

Project Management Research Paper: Each student will select and research an actual case study of a project that was deemed a failure in the last five years. This can be a project failure that you find doing online research, or one that you personally witnessed or participated in during your career. Often, one learns more from past failures than from past successes; hence, the rationale for this assignment. The paper must be 5 to 7 pages (excluding title and references pages), and include at least five outside references from reputable peer reviewed journals published within the last five years.
Before researching and selecting a failed project for your analysis, consider the following:
A project does not have to be completely abandoned or fail to come to fruition to be a failure. The project can still “happen” but have failed in terms of cost, timeline, quality, and/or scope. It can also be argued that it failed b/c it was misaligned with the organization’s mission and strategy.
Given these wider considerations of what technically constitutes “failure,” take a look at projects you have witnessed, experienced, or research and analyze them in terms of cost, schedule, scope, quality, and organizational strategy alignment. If it failed on any of these, you likely have a good start to your paper.
Project failure considerations should be discussed in light of the text and/or academic and professional research to support your analysis.
Requirements
APA title page
Abstract
5 – 7 pages of analysis (excluding Title page, Abstract, and Reference page)
A detailed analysis of why the project was judged to be a failure, explained in terms of the project management principles studied in this course and/or mentioned in the textbook. The analysis cannot be based on personal opinion, but instead supported by references. Make sure to discuss the failure in light of cost, schedule, scope, quality, and organizational strategy alignment as applicable. You can certainly discuss other contributing factors such as risk assessment, stakeholder communication, leadership failures, etc. as well.
Please use the following Bold Headers (and include sub-headers as appropriate):
Introduction (1 – 2 paragraphs)
Project Background and Summary (This should not exceed one page and include enough information to understand the key details of the project failure selected for your paper)
Detailed Analysis of Failure (majority of your paper)
Conclusion
APA (6th or 7th Edition). Therefore, sources should be given as in-text citation for any verbiage, presented tables and/or figures that are not your own creation.
A properly formatted reference page.
Must be submitted as Microsoft Word Document
Low TurnItIn similarity score (Approximately 15% or less). Papers with high similarity scores will receive a grade of 0.

-Alternative medicine v. Traditional medicine
-Video chat etiquette v. In-person meeting etiquette
-American politics today v. American politics during the Civil War
-Pioneers v. First people in outer space
-Concepts of beauty today v. Concepts of beauty in the Victorian Era

MEDIA BUSINESS – TELEVISION PROPOSAL
For this assignment, you need to imagine that you are a television producer making a pitch to one of the 4 major television networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX). You will need to craft a pitch for a scripted, fictional television series. That means it can’t be any type of a news program or reality show. It needs to be a scripted show, falling into one of the usual genres one sees on TV: comedy, drama, cop show, action/adventure, lawyer show, doctor show, science fiction, etc. As you make the pitch for this show, you need to make an argument not just – and not even primarily – for the artistic merits of your show but why it is that a network should invest millions of dollars into giving you the chance to make this series. You need to make a strong business argument for why it is a profitable investment for a network to take a chance on your idea.
To that end, you paper must include the following elements:
30 POINTS: Give a brief description of your show’s premise. What will it be about? Also briefly describe why this premise has the potential to draw audience interest for years. Mention whether or not there are other similar shows on TV and why the presence or absence of similar programs is good for the chances of your show’s long-term survival. Also give a brief historical analysis of how your type of show has been successful before on TV. But if you are proposing to bring back a dormant genre, something that hasn’t been seen in many years – private investigators, guest-celebrity-of-the-week shows – make a strong argument for why this is the right time to attempt the resurrection of this genre.
20 POINTS: Give a brief description of the main characters audiences will see week after week. Make an argument for why these characters will draw a demographic of viewers who will be attractive for advertisers. So explain who your main target audience is and why they will tune in to watch a show with the kinds of characters populating your series.
10 POINTS: Describe at least 3 advertisers you see placing ads on your show. DO NOT list organizations paying to place public service announcements. List 3 companies selling products that will advertise on your program.
20 POINTS: Explain whether or not there is a potential for merchandising based on your show and what kinds of merchandise. For example: action figures, clothes, jewelry, perfume, posters, etc.
10 POINTS: Is there any multimedia potential for your program? For example, can you at one point create spin-offs of the show? Can you make a theatrical film based on it? Can you create video games based on your show? Can you sell soundtrack music? Or describe any other ways that you can make money off your show in other media.
10 POINTS: Are there any regulatory problems that could possibly come up because of this show or might anything be objectionable about it that could draw boycotts and pressure campaigns from special interest groups?
This paper should be 5 to 6 pages long, double spaced, using Times Roman 12 point font. Use 1 inch margins and DO NOT leave extra spaces between paragraphs. Email me this paper by the end of the day on February 12.

What is the kinetic energy at the bottom of the fall?

Your assignment is to solve these ten problems. The most important portion of your grade is going to be showing you work rather than just the final answer. That is, you cannot receive full credit on this assignment if you only put the final answers, even if they are correct. I would ask that you number each problem and keep them at least marginally organized for my own sanity. You might also consider writing very short descriptions of the steps you’re taking as part of your reasoning and work. You are welcome to work with others on this, but I’d ask that everyone submit their own work. There will be a discussion opened for this assignment if you’d like to go over the steps you’re taking or find some classmates to work with.
An object with 2 kilograms of mass is lifted into the air by 4 meters. The object is dropped. What is the kinetic energy at the bottom of the fall? What is the final velocity just before it hits the ground? – 8.85m/s
How much work does a 70-kg person do running up a mountain with a vertical rise of 2,500 feet (760 m)? Express the answer in both Joules and kilocalories. If the run takes 50 minutes, what’s the average power involved? – 124.6kcal, 173.8W
In 2010 a well being frilled from the Deepwater Horizon platform in the Gulf of Mexico blew out, spilling some 5 million barrels of oil into the water over 3 months. (Maybe you saw the movie?) (a) Find the energy equivalent of the spilled oil, in joules, and (b) estimate how long this oil could have supplied the entire power demand of the USA, 2.8 x 1012 W. – ~3 hours
A car with a mass of 1700 kg can go from rest to 100 km/h in 8 seconds. If its energy increases at a constant rate, how much power must be applied to achieve this acceleration? Give your answer in horsepower. – 110hp
There’s a claim that buying an SUV instead of a standard car wastes as much energy as leaving your refrigerator door open for 7 years. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Let’s test it ourselves.
A typical refrigerator (not our energy efficient one) consumes energy at a rate of about 400W while running. While normal refrigerators don’t run all the time, ours will because we’re leaving the door open. Assume that your average SUV has a fuel efficiency of 20 miles per gallon. The average car has an efficiency of 30 miles per gallon. Each gallon of gasoline contains 40kWh of energy per gallon, and let’s say you drive 15,000 miles in a year. In a single year, how many years would you have to leave your refrigerator door open to match the energy difference between the two vehicles? – 2.85 years
A typical indoor temperature is typically around 68ºF. What is this temperature in Celsius? In Kelvin? – 293K
Imagine you’re making some decisions about how you’d like to build the basement of a house. In total, the walls have a total surface area of 1000 ft2, and you expect the basement will be around 70ºF inside but the outside temperature is 45ºF. If the walls were made only of concrete (R = 1.1 ft2・ºF・h / Btu), what would be the rate of heat lost through the walls? If you added an insulating material like blueboard (R = 5 ft2・ºF・h / Btu) to the concrete, what would be the new and improved rate of heat loss? – 4098 Btu/h
A block of concrete that has a mass of 2kg is allowed to cool down from 40ºC to room temperature, 20ºC (that’s a hint for problem 1). If the specific heat of concrete is 920 J/kg K, how much heat is released during this process? – 36,800J
The electric heating element in a 40-gallon water heater is rated at 5kW. You are planning on taking the hottest shower possible, and are therefore hoping your water heater is ready with all 40 gallons at 120ºF. Unfortunately, you realize your roommate has just gotten out of the shower and the temperature inside the water heater is now a measly 90ºF. How long will you have to wait before the water heater is back at 120ºF?
It might help to know that the density of water is 3.79kg per gallon. – 35 minutes
You’re planning on making some hot water for tea. You need about 250 grams of water, and it comes out of the tap at 10ºC. You’re trying to decide whether you should use the microwave or your aluminum kettle (with a mass of 1kg). How much more energy would it take to heat up the water in the kettle, assuming that the aluminum of the kettle also starts at 10ºC? If the stove under the kettle and the microwave both were rated to output 1000W, how much longer would the kettle take to boil the water than the microwave? – 81 seconds
