Experience of two new leisure activities

The purpose of this assignment is for you to expand your current leisure experience and participate in two new leisure activities. These should be activities that you aren’t familiar with or skilled in. Try something new, exciting, and out of your normal “leisure inventory” or leisure activities.
During these new leisure experiences, you are expected to generate at least one page of ‘field notes’ that captures your reactions, observations, feelings, and knowledge. Using these notes, we ask you to write a three page reflective essay that outlines your experience with these new activities. Your essay should be able to be easily followed, so please briefly outline the activity that you participate in when speaking on it. Additionally, please use direct examples of your participation in your writing in order to better capture your experience.
Your field notes should touch on or be inspired by the below questions:
1.Describe the emotional experience of learning about and participating in an unfamiliar activity. Was this process uncomfortable? Embarrassing? Empowering? Enjoyable? All of the above? Describe the emotions and feelings you experienced leading up to the activity, during the activity, and following participation in the activity.
2.Describe the culture of this activity. In other words, describe the unique vocabularies, styles of dress, behaviors, and/or social networks associated with this activity. Did you feel a part of that culture when you first began your participation? Did you feel more a part of the culture at the end of your participation? Why or why not?
3.Did you experience flow while participating in this activity? Why or why not?
4.After having the experience of being a novice participant, how might this affect your facilitation of this activity/these activities for future participants?

Annotations, APA Citations, and Mutations

: For this short assignment I want you to review the discussion of mutations in chapter 4 of Explorations. The discussion is mainly occurs from the bottom of page 114 (book’s pagination) to the beginning of the “Genetic drift” discussion (towards the bottom of page 120). Mutation-related topics come back up a few times later in the chapter as well. Once you have reviewed the books’ mutations discussion, I want you to select two different topics or key terms related to mutation and locate a peer-reviewed science journal article on research directly related to each of the two. As you know, key concepts and topics are generally boldfaced in our textbook, so boldfaced terms are a good place to look. Make sure you choose concepts or topics you find interesting!
“Peer reviewed” means scholars (peers) evaluate, comment, and approve article submissions before they are published. The peer-review process governs any serious academic research journals. To locate research journal articles on your chosen topics, you should use research databases. The Shatford Library’s Anthropology Research GuideLinks to an external site. has additional information and links to a list of databases like Ebsco, Jstor, Proquest, and others that you can use these to locate your journal articles. Make sure to choose articles with research that interests you. Scientific research can be tough to fully understand but that’s okay– it’s more important you understand the main claims and ideas of the authors, especially as they relate to mutation as a significant evolutionary force.
After you have found your two articles, I want you to write a full, correct APA citation for each article and then an entry for an annotated bibliography for each of the articles. Information on APA citations and entries for annotated bibliographies can be found in the APA Citations and Annotations module page.
Your annotation for each article should be no less than 100 words. The citation itself does not count toward the word total. It must be written entirely by you.

Principal Diagnoses

Readings
In your DSM-5 text:
Read “Depressive Disorders,” pages 155–188.
Read “Bipolar and Related Disorders,” pages 123–154.
In reading these two sections of the DSM-5 text, you will learn about the family of disorders known as major depression, bipolar disorder, and Persistent Depressive Disorder (dysthymia), and about their many variations, modifiers and severity specifiers. It will be to your advantage if you devise a way to quickly identify a way to know which pages you will need to use to clarify diagnoses in among the types of mood disorders as they can be quite complicated and involved.
Read “Assessment Measures,” pages 733–748. This will help you learn to understand and review important psychopathological domains necessary for good diagnostic interviews. It provides an effective perspective for tracking symptom severity in any individual and provides guidance for assessing disabilities. (Versions of these assessment tools may be found online at the American Psychiatric Association’s DSM-5 Web site.
Carefully review “Feeding and Eating Disorders,” pages 329–354. Eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa are addressed in this chapter.
Principal Diagnoses
Based on the material presented in the Case Study of Bill:
Provide the DSM-5 differential diagnoses for Bill, including a listing of “Other Factors,” and support your decision process with a brief narrative.
Refer to the Alphabetical Listing of DSM-5 Diagnoses and Codes (ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-CM) and Numerical Listing of DSM-5 Diagnoses and Codes (ICD-10-CMS) in your DSM-5 text, pages 839–862 and 877–896 and detail any differences in the diagnosis that you might find if you were to use the ICD-10 to arrive at the diagnosis or diagnoses. (As this is your first look at the comparison between the ICD-10 and the DSM classification systems, you may want to take a little time to understand how these systems relate to each other.)
Explain the etiological factors that you think are relevant in this case along with their reasons, keeping the diathesis-stress model in mind. You will need to do some research to clearly explain and support your reasons for suspecting these etiological factors.
List the three primary issues that need to be addressed in a treatment plan for Bill.
Review the Case Study Response Guide to assist you with this discussion.

Case Study One: Organized vs. Disorganized Serial Offender

Students shall discuss, compare, and contrast Organized and Disorganized Types of Serial Offenders, and provide an example of each. The paper should be at least 500 words, in APA format, 12 point font, and double spaced. One CREDIBLE outside source is required using APA rules for in-text citations and references. APA tools are available in the “Useful Tools for Writing” module in this course, or students can simply do an internet search for specific APA guidelines. A “credible source” does NOT include any source with “pedia” or “britannica” in the name. In other words
do NOT use Wikipedia, Britannica, or Murderpedia, for example. Students shall take care to use their OWN WORDS, as Canvas utilizes a tool that checks for plagiarism. Be sure and reword any material not in quotes, and properly cite at the end of the material with Author, year in parenthesis, i.e., (Smith, 1998), and place a detailed corresponding reference at the end of the case study using APA guidelines.

How would you decide whether it would be best to use this land to grow biomass, to install solar photovoltaic panels, to install solar thermal panels, or to mount wind turbines? If this were the city in which you are living now, what would you recommend?

Your city (Vancouver)owns 4 square miles of land outside of town that it intends to use for generating power. How would you decide whether it would be best to use this land to grow biomass, to install solar photovoltaic panels, to install solar thermal panels, or to mount wind turbines? If this were the city in which you are living now, what would you recommend?
List three forms of renewable energy and discuss the social costs that might be connected to these sources.

mock introduction- learning and memory (4-5 paragraphs)

Find peer reviewed articles that help you guess at an answer to the following:

How does a person’s memory span change across different stimuli?

Some of these articles will be more helpful than others in answering this question. You will have to use what you can from the bodies of these articles to complete this assignment. Your answer will be 4-5 paragraphs and include:

An introductory paragraph that summarizes the general topic (memory span)
A summary of 3 articles following the guidelines in the powerpoint
A hypothesis that represents your answer to the above question
APA formatting and citations
In the end, you should have a miniature introduction section that introduces the topic, summarizes some relevant research, and comes to a coherent, testable hypothesis. You should submit your assignment as both a word document.

Grandparents Rearing Grandchildren

Prepare for this post by watching the video clip “Grandparents Raising Grandchildren”, found in this week’s module. After watching the program and reading the chapter, explore the following topics in your initial post:

1. What are some of the reasons why grandparents raise their grandchildren? Provide examples from the story and support from the any chapter in textbook.

2. Why do you think so many grandparents feel responsible for raising their grandchildren? Provide examples from the story and support from any chapter in the textbook.

3. In what ways does a grandparent raising a grandchild impact the grandparent’s social and emotional development/functioning? Which psychosocial stage (hint: Erikson!) is relevant to this discussion? Provide examples from the story and/or support from any chapter in the textbook.

4. What are some ways that society can support grandparents raising grandchildren? Provide examples from the story and provide a link to an internet resource that can support these grandparents.

Dowd et al Reading Discussion

Dowd et al Reading Discussion
This
discussion board thread pertains to the assigned reading:
·
Dowd JB, Andriano L, Brazel DM, et al. “Demographic science aids
in understanding the spread and fatality rates of COVID-19.” Proceedings
of the National Academy of Sciences. 2020; 117 (18) 9696-9698. Which I have
attached. Please make sure to read all of it.

Answer each of the
following questions:
1. Pick
any one of the 4 countries with patterns described in the article (Italy,
Nigeria, South Korea, United States). Find data on the trajectory of COVID-19
since this article’s data leave off (provide a clearly documented source in
your response text). Using that extension, explain whether the subsequent
trends are consistent or different from the account provided in the paper.
2. Think
of any other country of interest, and explain which of those described in the
paper should exhibit the closest patterns to the country you select. Explain
briefly (a few sentences) why that similarity should exist.
3. What
other socio-demographic features (other than age structure) do you think may
have similarly differentiating implications for the nature of the pandemic
across locales? Briefly explain how differences across societies may exhibit
different pandemic trajectories based on that difference.
