What are the underlying values that inform each side of the debate (e.g., values like wealth maximization and corporate social responsibility)?

For the discussion post:
How is the ancient concept of distributive justice understood in today’s political debate?
What are the underlying values that inform each side of the debate (e.g., values like wealth maximization and corporate social responsibility)?
Can these sides be reconciled and, if so, what must happen to bring them together? Does virtue have a role to play here; if so, how?

What are the possible consequences for the community if this inequity is not addressed?

A literature review includes relevant research and policy informing a thesis statement or research question. In our case, it is peer reviewed literature and policy that supports your call to action. You are writing a persuasive paper, but you will need evidence to support your position. Research studies and education policy are your best allies to create a strong foundation for the action you wish to take to address a digital inequity in your community.

As you construct your literature review section of the Call to Action consider the following questions:
What is the dividing factor you will focus on? What research has been conducted to describe the nature of this divide and address this inequity?
What are the possible consequences for the community if this inequity is not addressed?
What approaches have others taken to mitigate this inequity? What policy guidance or evidence-based practices have been offered to address the digital inequity?

A well defined outline of your literature review is appropriate for the discussion board post and assignment this week. It is in your best interest to develop your literature review narrative as much as possible.

What have you gained by looking at your topic through the lenses so far?

Prompt
In this assignment, you will describe the view you get when looking at your topic through the two lenses you’ve selected for your project.
Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:
Describe the two lenses you have selected for your analysis.
Compare the two lenses in relation to your topic. What are the similarities?
Explain how the two lenses contrast with each other in relation to your topic. What are the differences?
Reflect on the benefits of the research process. Consider the following:
What have you gained by looking at your topic through the lenses so far?
What might be some of the benefits of further research?
Guidelines for Submission
Your submission should be a Word document, one to two pages in length, with 12-point Times New Roman font, double spacing, and one-inch margins. Any sources should be cited according to APA style. Consult the APA Style Guide available through the Shapiro Library for more information on citations.

What concepts (only the names) did you need to accommodate the concept of lines and quadratic functions in your mind?

Read:
Chapters 4 and 5 of the textbook (Abramson, J. (2017). Algebra and trigonometry. OpenStax, TX: Rice University. Retrieved from https://openstax.org/details/books/algebra-and-trigonometry)

For the paper:
Reflect on the concept of lines and quadratic functions.
What concepts (only the names) did you need to accommodate the concept of lines and quadratic functions in your mind?
What are the simplest line and quadratic function you can imagine?
In your day to day, is there any occurring fact that can be interpreted as lines and quadratic functions?
What strategy are you using to get the graph of lines and quadratic functions?

Does your naïve initial and simplified model allow you to predict the behavior of the stock in the next month?

Read:
Chapters 4 and 5 of the textbook (Abramson, J. (2017). Algebra and trigonometry. OpenStax, TX: Rice University. Retrieved from https://openstax.org/details/books/algebra-and-trigonometry)

For the discussion post:
Lines can be used to approximate a wide variety of functions; often a function can be described using many lines.
If a stock price goes from $10 to $12 from January 1st to January 31, from $12 to $9 from February 1st to February 28th, and from $9 to $15 from March 1st to March 31th is the price change from $10 to $15 a straight line?
It is clear that in each of the three time intervals mentioned there was a complex daily variation of prices as in an electrocardiogram. But what would be a simplified solution for a first naive view of the situation? Would a simple function hold up? What is the simplest function to represent this situation? Does your naïve initial and simplified model allow you to predict the behavior of the stock in the next month?
How can I use three “pieces” of lines to describe the price movements from the beginning of January to the end of March? Show the graph for the price movement.
Go to www.desmos.com/calculator, and write your equations following the example
y = x + 2 {0 < x < 2} y = –x + 6 {2 < x < 5} y = 2x – 9 {5 < x < 8}

Explain how you will seek input from students, colleagues, families, and the larger community as you collaborate on the family cultural event.

In this benchmark assignment, you will design a cultural family event to help children learn about some of the diverse cultures represented in their community. Utilizing a child care center identify the various cultures in the center. Use the city’s (New Orleans) website and other resources to research the cultural demographics for the surrounding area.
If possible, collect additional information or student data that would support a need for volunteer opportunities in the classroom, and provide guidance regarding how to engage or appeal to potential volunteers.
Select four cultures/countries from the demographic composition of the community to represent at the event.
Create a 750- word outline of the event including the following:
An overview of each culture/country represented in the community, including languages, cultural norms, and religious beliefs.
Cultural organizations that could be included in the event and how they would foster respectful, reciprocal relationships that support and engage families.
Explain how you will seek input from students, colleagues, families, and the larger community as you collaborate on the family cultural event.
Learning activity for each culture/country that incorporates multiple perspectives relevant to students’ personal, family, community experiences, and cultural diversity to promote student outcomes.
