Hello, this is a supplementary essay of one of my universities that I’m applying. I want to choose the accounting major of indiana university bloomington. Here is the prompt
Describe your academic and career plans and any special interest (for example, undergraduate research, academic interests, leadership opportunities, etc.) that you are eager to pursue as an undergraduate at Indiana University. Also, if you encountered any unusual circumstances, challenges, or obstacles in pursuit of your education, share those experiences and how you overcame them. (200-400 words)
The following are the main reasons why I like accounting. Because my mother was in charge of finance before she became a housewife, she missed her time before work. She told me that she enjoyed providing strong evidence through data analysis, which attracted me. Accounting is a subject in which you can learn about the business process of any kind of business, know the real logistics and cash flow under its complicated appearance, and even know how to run a business. Not just analyzing data. In college, I hope I can join various clubs. I usually like art and volunteering.
the document that i upload is some of my essay that I wrote is relative.

Compare the New Year celebrations of two very different cultures

Expository Essay Topics
Comparison-Contrast Essay Topic –
Compare the New Year celebrations of two very different cultures.
MLA format, double spaced, new times Roman 12
MLA format citations
Essay length: 1,000–1,200 words
Introduce sources properly

Find two to six reputable secondary sources and review them carefully. At least one of these sources should be a peer-reviewed journal article accessed through the AU Library databases (unless your tutor has agreed to waive this requirement).

Based on the information you found in your research, as well as your own brainstorming, develop a straightforward thesis that is sufficiently limited in scope (meaning that you can do justice to it in a short essay).

As you write, integrate information from your research. Of the two to six sources you located and reviewed in Step 3, choose at least two (and no more than four) secondary sources to use within your essay, and then add quotations and paraphrases from them. Every time you paraphrase or quote, follow these four steps to cite and integrate the source properly:
Introduce the source.
Present the research.
Credit the source parenthetically.
Discuss.
n other words, include “quotation sandwiches” and “paraphrase sandwiches” in your essay. Don’t just drop in quotations or paraphrases from sources into your essay. (Some experts call these “hit-and-run quotations,” “dropped quotations,” or “floating quotations.”)
Create a bibliography that lists every source you cited in your essay. (In MLA style, this page is titled “Works Cited,” ) Take this task seriously. We expect you to pay very close attention to detail and follow samples for each entry. We recommend the Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL) for all citation matters.

Response and Reflection Paper- Ancient Rhetorics

– The module reading is labeled accordingly and the reading for section is below:

Longinus. on the sublime

St.Augustine Book IV. On Christian doctrine

https://faculty.georgetown.edu/jod/augustine/ddc4.html

Glenn, Cheryl. “Sex, Lies, and Manuscript: Refiguring Aspasia in the History of Rhetoric.” College Composition and Communication, vol. 45, no. 2, National Council of Teachers of English, 1994, pp. 180–99.

Smith, Jessica Nash. “(Dis)Membering Quintilian’s Corpus: Ramus Reads the Body Rhetoric.” Exemplaria, vol. 11, no. 2, 1999, pp. 399–429.

The last two are uploaded on the file section
Section 1 – Extension Reading Summary
First, you will need to read one additional article on the module’s topic (the options are listed below) and develop a brief (~100-150 word) summary of that reading.
The summary should begin with a direct reference to the source (including at least the author and/or title of the article). Focus on the main ideas in the summary, but also include the major supports for these ideas. Try not to comment or evaluate the source here. Make sure that you’re summarizing it in the way that you would describe it, and do not copy summaries from other online resources or from the abstract to the article. I’m much more interested in what you understand the source to be saying than what someone else thinks it means. At the same time, I’m not trying to test you here about a “correct” interpretation of the article. Just show me that you read the article and thought about some of the details of it.

The extension sources for this module offer different perspectives on the Ancient Greco-Roman rhetorical tradition. Longinus describes the Sublime, which is a rhetorical practice that is focused on transcendental meaning created through rhetorical style. Augustine describes the application of Roman rhetorical tradition to Christian preaching practices. Glenn works to recover the role of Aspasia, a Greek woman, in the foundation of Athenian rhetoric. And Smith discusses the French philosopher Ramus’ rejection of an expansive view of rhetoric.
Links to the four reading options are below:
Longinus. On the Sublime.
St. Augustine “Book IV.” On Christian Doctrine.

Section 2 – Module Readings Synthesis
Write a brief (~250 word) synthesis that connects the extension article you read in this assignment to the two texts we read last week. Be sure to reference each source directly. (For example, “Smith argues ____, but Legget argues ____. Together these two sources show a difference in opinion about ___.”
If you’re struggling with this section, consider any of the following questions:
How do all these sources connect? What do they mean together about communication/rhetoric/
What does this area of rhetorical theory argue in general?
What seem to be common disagreements in this area of rhetorical theory?
Which source seems strongest? Why?

Section 3 – Reflection
Finally, write a brief (~250 word) reflection on this unit as a whole.
This section is meant to be rather free-form, so you can discuss any relevant topics that you’d like to. However, if you’re struggling to think of something to say, you might consider any of the following questions:
How has this unit changed your views on rhetorical theory and/or practice?
Did you like this unit more or less than previous units? Why?
What are the strengths and/or weaknesses of this area of rhetorical theory?
How might you be able to apply this area of rhetorical theory in your future studies and/or work?
But don’t feel constrained by these questions. They’re primarily intended as potential thoughts to focus on in reflecting on the unit. You can certainly address other things related to the unit if you’d like to.
