Is Google protected by a barrier to entry, and If so, which barrier(s)?

Respond to one of the following prompts. Be sure to identify which prompt you are discussing in the title of your initial post.
Option 1
Monopolies
Google dominates online search options and advertising. Some contend Google is a monopoly. First, consider competition and answer these questions:
Is Google protected by a barrier to entry, and If so, which barrier(s)?
Is there a viable substitute for Google?
Second, consider whether Google is a monopoly or not.
How does Google’s control of the market influence market price and market quantity?
If Google is a monopoly, how would breaking up affect the market price and market quantity?
How do we test these hypotheses?
Option 2
Monopolistic Competition
Suppose that Spacely Sprockets’ marginal cost of a jacket is a constant $150 and the total fixed cost at one of its stores is $3,000 a day. This particular store sells 40 jackets a day, which is its profit-maximizing number of jackets. The nearby stores begin to advertise their jackets. The Spacely Sprockets store now spends $1,500 a day advertising its jackets, and its profit-maximizing number of jackets sold jumps to 50 a day.
What is this store’s average total cost of a jacket sold before and after the advertising begins?
What happens to the price of a Spacely Sprockets’ jacket, Spacely Sprockets’ markup, and Spacely Sprockets’ economic profit? Why or why not?
Explain your response with specifics and provide examples.
In your replies:
Share past experiences that may relate to your peers’ responses.
If you found any of your peers’ tips or ideas useful, share them and explain why you might use them yourself in the future.
Provide any input that may be useful in your peers’ initial post.

Q1:
Washington DC Tours offers guided sightseeing tours around the nation’s capital to groups of visitors. The company’s
operations are as follows.
a. Washington DC Tours offers many different tours. Each tour has a fixed price rate per visitor regardless of their
age. For each tour, the tour name, approximate length, and price per visitor are needed.
b. Every tour must be designed to visit several locations. For each location, a name, official description, and
admission requirements are kept. Some locations (such as the White House) are visited by more than one tour,
while others (such as Arlington Cemetery) are visited by a single tour. All locations are visited by at least one
tour. The order in which the tour visits each location should be tracked as well.
c. When a tour is given, that is referred to as an “outing.” A tour can have many scheduled outings, although newly
designed tours may not have any outings scheduled. Each outing is for a single tour and is scheduled for a
particular date and time. All the outings must be associated with a tour.
d. A visitor can make a reservation for a scheduled outing for one or more travellers. When a visitor makes a
reservation, the visitor’s name, address, telephone number, reservation date, and the number of travellers are
recorded. Visitors may sign up to join many different outings, and each outing can have many visitors.
Information is kept only on visitors who have signed up for at least one outing, although newly scheduled outings
may not have any visitors signed up yet.
e. All tours at Washington DC Tours are guided tours, so a driver tour guide (DTG) must be assigned to each outing.
The DTG act as both driver and tour guide. Each outing has one and only one DTG. DTGs are identified by an
employee ID, but the system should also record their name, home address, date of hire, and contact number.
f. Visitors can also make hotel pickup requests at the time of the reservation if needed. The company provides the
service based on the availability of DTGs. The company maintain a hotel pickup schedule and record pickup date
and time, and the location.
g. DTGs pick up visitors from hotels when they are not guiding any tours. Each DTG may be assigned to several
scheduled hotel pickups based on their availability.
h. The visitor can make partial or full payment at the time of the reservation. The company also records the total
amount associated with the reservation and their current outstanding balance on the tour. If the visitor pays for a
tour in instalments, the outstanding balance is modified each time a payment is made.
1. Identify all the entities in this company. (5 points)
2. For each entity, list its attributes. (5 points)
3. Describe the possible relationships between the various entities. For example, a tour can have many scheduled
outings and each outing must be associated with one and only one tour. (5 points)
4. Now you are ready to create a Crow’s Foot notation E-R diagram for this case. For each entity, present the
attributes, the primary key, and foreign keys (if any). Name each relationship and diagram both the minimum and
maximum cardinalities. If you cannot infer the cardinalities from the case description, make your own
assumption. You can use MySQL workbench, Visio or any other drawing software to draw your ERD. (15 points)

Explain how these steps will build trust and why they should be performed in the order proposed.

Create a journal assignment that explains your approach to gaining the trust of stakeholders during times of organizational change. Be specific about the timing and steps you will take to cultivate a level of trust that will create support for a transformational change initiative. Explain how these steps will build trust and why they should be performed in the order proposed. Begin the assignment by describing the specific change you are responding to. This may involve something you have experienced or a change you create for this assignment.

Write your paragraph first in Google Docs or Microsoft Word or some other word processing program, and then submit to the link above.

General instructions. Respond to one of the three questions below. Do not respond to all three questions. Just one, of your choice! Read the questions carefully so you know what you are being asked to do. Write your paragraph first in Google Docs or Microsoft Word or some other word processing program, and then submit to the link above. Stronger paragraphs will be focused, detailed, analytical, and insightful; weaker responses will contain lots of unnecessary summary and/or will be minimally developed, incomplete, confused, vague, or off track. I’m looking for evidence that you are reading actively, with understanding and some insight, and that you are putting thought and care into your responses.
Option 1. Character Deep Dive Paragraph. Based on your close reading of “Glory,” write a paragraph that develops one conclusion you can come to about the character of Glory. This is actually asking you to come up with your own idea about this character. Try to make your conclusion insightful, so that you are expressing something true and real and important that gets to the heart of what this character is like and what’s happening with her, in your view. Consider everything you know about her. Back up your points with plenty of specific evidence (specific things the characters say and do and think and feel) and your own thoughtful analysis. You want the reader to be able to say, by the time they get to the end of your paragraph, “Wow, I get it, Glory really is _______!” [whatever it is that you are claiming about her — and it doesn’t have to be just a single word, as a single word may not be enough to get at the complicated reality of this character]]
Option 2. Social Circumstances and Cultural Factors Deep Dive Paragraph. Based on your close reading of “Glory,” write a paragraph that explains and discusses a conclusion that you can come to about the social circumstances and/or cultural factors that are impacting this character — and discuss how, in your opinion, they impact her. (Since, for all of us, our surroundings and environments shape us and mold us in lots of ways.) Challenge yourself to be specific and insightful about the realities of Glory’s world and how she relates to what’s around her, and see what you can infer from the story about its effect on her. Back up your points with specific things the characters say and do and think and feel) and your own thoughtful analysis. You want the reader to be able to say, by the time they get to the end of your paragraph, “Wow, I get it, now I really understand how these different social circumstances and cultural factors are impacting what Glory’s like and even how she acts in the story.”
Option 3. Revealing Moment Deep Dive Paragraph. Write a paragraph that looks closely at one revealing moment that you found in “Glory.” A revealing moment in a story like this one can be something that happens in a few lines of dialogue, or could be a part of a scene or even a whole scene — it’s where something of particular interest or importance is revealed that brings an aspect of the story into focus, or that clarifies something about a character. Be sure to explain, briefly, what happens in this particularly revealing moment and what gets revealed for you, and how the moment connects with and illuminates the story overall or perhaps how it illuminates the character of Glory in particular. This is asking you to show your own critical thinking and close analysis about this moment in the story and about the story overall.

In your analysis, respond to the following question: What is strategic management, and why is it critical to the success of an organization in meeting its goals and mission globally?
Your analysis of this case and your written submission should reflect an understanding of the critical issues of the case, integrating the material covered in the text, and present concise and well-reasoned justifications for the stance that you take.
Tesco® — Entry Into and Exit From Japan
In September 2011, Tesco, the British supermarket group and the world’s third-biggest retailer, announced its exit from Japan after 8 years in the country. In the event, Tesco became the latest in a long list of foreign retailers to exit from Japan. This case study highlights why many international supermarket chains like Tesco have been unsuccessful so far in a difficult Japanese market.
“Let’s be honest, Japan was a short, expensive adventure for us.” — Jose Luis Duran, Chief Executive of Carrefour in March 2005 on its exit from Japan.
“These retailers brought into Japan their business formats without adjusting for Japan. It’s not as if a wholesale-club-type concept will not take off here, but there has to be some modification.” — Masayoshi Saotome, research director at Mitsubishi® Research Institute Inc.
Japan, the world’s third-biggest grocery market, remains a difficult country to make money from, as international retailers Walmart® and Carrefour have found out. Walmart has not done very well in Japan with its presence since 2002 through Seiyu. When Carrefour entered Japan in 2000, it made huge claims on revolutionizing retailing in the country. However, in 2005, Carrefour swapped its Japanese assets for Tesco’s assets in Taiwan.
Seven & I Holdings® and Aeon® dominate Japan. Even British drugstore chain Boots pulled out of Japan owing to increased competition and deflation. Additionally, Japan’s Byzantine distribution system of closely knit web of suppliers and consumers’ fickle taste is the reason behind many retailers struggling. Many analysts attribute the failure to misreading Japanese consumers’ mindset. However, the competitive Japanese retail market is a tough arena, not just for foreign retailers but also for local Japanese department stores. Local stores also have been struggling with price deflation and ever-increasing specialty stores.
Case Study Questions:
Why are the Japanese retail markets so difficult to compete in?
Explain why Japanese customers are reluctant to shop at foreign retailers versus local retailers?
