mental health essay

Why?: A Mental Health Crisis – 75 points
Students will write a 3-pg. paper that integrates material and theories from the course (in addition to independent research) addressing their own understanding of the current mental health crisis (loneliness/anxiety/depression). This paper will be written through the lens of close relationships, and the communication that shapes these relationships, as central to our mental well-being. Papers will be graded on having a clear and concise argument that is rooted in theory, or a conversation between multiple theories.
Student should choose 1 theory (or allow two theories to be in conversation with one another) and supporting course concepts to conceptualize the current crisis from a relational framework (i.e., Why are we facing a loneliness epidemic? Why are people more anxious and depressed than ever before, especially given our “connected” world?)
This research paper should include 5 different references (academic, scholarly, course material, peer-reviewed). Two of these references should be from students’ own research – not class material.
Please do not write over the pg. requirement (except maybe a sentence or two).
Why?: A Mental Health Crisis
Possible Paper Outline (there is no right way to write this paper)

A. Rationale – set the tone; what is the crisis (loneliness, depression, anxiety)
B. Theory – while developing close relationships is not the only reason for this crisis, choose a relational/interpersonal theory that helps you to make sense OR partial explanation for why this crisis is occurring (****please note that this is not the only reason; however, it is the lens we are focusing on in class)
1. Introduce theory/theorist main ideas
2. Discuss some of the main ideas/concepts to explain your reasoning
C. Restate your thesis and conclude your paper

Skill Building

Prepare a short report for your instructor on a company or other type of organization that was recently involved in an ethical scandal. What behavior caused the scandal? What pressures, if any, were on the organization to behave this way? How easy/desirable would it have been for them to have avoided this behavior? Was this a cut-and-dried case of bad ethics, or do you think it was more complex than that? Be sure to cite your sources in the report.

Economics Discussion Board

Unit 4 Discussion Board
Discussion Topic: Diminishing Marginal Utility
Pretend that
you have just been surprised with a genuine email that says you have just
been selected by your favorite pizza delivery company that every day for
the next month you will receive your favorite pizza for lunch and another
of that same favorite pizza for dinner, delivered to your home and ready
to eat.

Using the
concept of diminishing marginal utility, discuss how excited you will be
on the first day of your winning.
What about
your excitement on the 10th day?
What about
your excitement on the 30th day?

Now, pretend
that your favorite national brand gasoline company informs you that you have
won as much as you want free gasoline, as much as you want, from any of
their gas stations, anywhere in the country every day for a year.

Using the
concept of diminishing marginal utility, discuss how excited you will be
on the first day of your winning
What about
your excitement on the 10th day?
What about
your excitement on the 30th day?

Again,
considering the concept of utility, what makes these two scenarios
different?

Unit 5 Discussion Board
Discussion Topic: Tailored Clothes
Assume that
you were ready to buy a custom tailored dress (or men’s suit) and you are
prepared to pay up to $200 for it. Also assume that the tailor is prepared
to sell that item of clothing for as little as $100. When you arrive at
the tailor shop, the posted price for the item is $150. Discuss how this
scenario relates to producer and consumer surplus and how such surpluses,
if any, affect buying and manufacturing decisions.
Discuss any
recent purchases you have made and for which you feel that a similar rationale
seemed to be at work.

Precious SNHU Speech

Overview
In this module, you learned how to select presentation topics and evaluate sources for credibility. In Milestone One, you will select a topic and credible resources based on a provided scenario, which you will continue to use throughout the course as you work on your course project. Selecting a topic and finding initial resources now will help you get a great start on your project and incorporate feedback from your instructor early on in the brainstorming phase of your presentation creation.
Scenario

Because this is intended as professional development, your manager has also asked that your presentation use a variety of scholarly and popular resources, which the team could consult on an ongoing basis to learn more or stay informed.
Prompt
As your presentation topic, select a current or emerging policy, practice, or process that is relevant and applicable to your career or professional development goals. Then select at least five resources to increase your understanding of the topic. Potential topic examples, by specialty, could include:

Evidence-Based Project, Part 4: Recommending an Evidence-Based Practice Change

Assignment: Evidence-Based Project, Part 4: Recommending an Evidence-Based Practice Change
The collection of evidence is an activity that occurs with an endgame in mind. For example, law enforcement professionals collect evidence to support a decision to charge those accused of criminal activity. Similarly, evidence-based healthcare practitioners collect evidence to support decisions in pursuit of specific healthcare outcomes.
In this Assignment, you will identify an issue or opportunity for change within your healthcare organization and propose an idea for a change in practice supported by an EBP approach.
To Prepare:
Reflect on the four peer-reviewed articles you critically appraised in Module 4, related to your clinical topic of interest and PICOT.
Reflect on your current healthcare organization and think about potential opportunities for evidence-based change, using your topic of interest and PICOT as the basis for your reflection.
Consider the best method of disseminating the results of your presentation to an audience.
The Assignment: (Evidence-Based Project)
Part 4: Recommending an Evidence-Based Practice Change
Create an 8- to 9-slide narrated PowerPoint presentation in which you do the following:
Briefly describe your healthcare organization, including its culture and readiness for change. (You may opt to keep various elements of this anonymous, such as your company name.)
Describe the current problem or opportunity for change. Include in this description the circumstances surrounding the need for change, the scope of the issue, the stakeholders involved, and the risks associated with change implementation in general.
Propose an evidence-based idea for a change in practice using an EBP approach to decision making. Note that you may find further research needs to be conducted if sufficient evidence is not discovered.
Describe your plan for knowledge transfer of this change, including knowledge creation, dissemination, and organizational adoption and implementation.
Explain how you would disseminate the results of your project to an audience. Provide a rationale for why you selected this dissemination strategy.
Describe the measurable outcomes you hope to achieve with the implementation of this evidence-based change.
Be sure to provide APA citations of the supporting evidence-based peer reviewed articles you selected to support your thinking.
Add a lessons learned section that includes the following:
A summary of the critical appraisal of the peer-reviewed articles you previously submitted
An explanation about what you learned from completing the Evaluation Table within the Critical Appraisal Tool Worksheet Template (1-3 slides)

Apply one of these three decision- making frameworks to an IT- related ethical issue. This requires a 3 page paper addressing a leading ethical issue. You will use one of the three decisions making frameworks from UMGC module 2 to analyze these issue

In this written assignment, you will choose a company, consider its business and costing requirements, and recommend a costing system that will work best for the business.

Companies choose their costing method based on their business activities and processes, as well as the products and services they offer. A company can be a manufacturing, merchandising, or service organization; this also impacts which costing method will be most useful for its purposes. As a part of costing, the company also needs to decide how to classify overhead costs using either traditional or activity-based costing (ABC).
In this written assignment, you will choose a company, consider its business and costing requirements, and recommend a costing system that will work best for the business.
Prompt
Think about a company you know. This could be a current or past employer or a company you admire. Consider its business activities and the type of products and services offered. Based on what you have learned so far, write a short paper that reflects on the different costing methods and speculates on how they might apply to your selected company.
Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:
Company Overview: Identify the company you selected and provide a brief overview of its business.
Is it a manufacturing, merchandising, or service organization?
Costing Methods: Compare the job order and process costing methods, and explain how each of these can be applied to the company.
How could the costs differ if one method is chosen over the other?
Factory Overhead: Outline possible indirect or overhead costs the company may need to account for, and identify the type of costing the company might use for these costs.
If the company decides to use activity-based costing (ABC), what are some activity bases (cost drivers) it might use to allocate these costs?
Recommendation: Based on your analysis, recommend a costing method for the company, and explain why you think this method will work best for the business.
Guidelines for Submission
Submit your assignment as a 2- to 4-page Word document. Sources should be cited according to APA style.
