Review/Method (3-4 pages)
This
is where you will explain the rhetorical method you will be utilizing in your
analysis paper, and you will showcase how you are contributing to
conversations/discussions surrounding this rhetorical object/topic. You will do
research on what other rhetorical critics have said on your topic, or topics
like yours, and you will show how your analysis is informed by the insights of
other rhetorical critics. Your essay should: (1) First, demonstrate you have
done a significant amount of research on a rhetorical method. Showcase a
proficiency in that research by telling your reader what rhetorical critics
have said about your method. Rhetorical critics vary so different scholars make
different arguments. Make sure to identify those. However, your job is to
synthesize these diverse arguments into a unified way that can be applicable to
you for your artifact. There might be limitations in this rhetorical method; if
so, be honest and upfront about them. Perhaps in spite of these limitations, it
still has great use for your artifact. (2) Second, demonstrate why this method
is necessary for understanding your artifact. Why this method and not another?
