II. Body of the Paper (Three paragraphs – 5 full sentences for each topic)

Remember: This video, The Transformative Power of Classical Music, will have three segments of critical thinking.
You will be asked to provide personal insights through the use of 3 topics that will encourage individual responses that will require a full paragraph of content with a minimum of 5 sentences for each segment.
All questions for each topic are to be addressed to fulfill the requirements for each paragraph.
You want to structure each paragraph without restating the question. Your sentences need to provide the details of content contained in the question.

Topic 1 (Explain the context of the statement, without rewriting the question)

Which of the 3 groups in the audience would you identify with most?
If you identify with Group 1, describe how you consider classical music to be an integral part of your psyche, well being, everyday routine, etc. Think about any instance where you have positive, memorable experience associated with it. Lastly, describe your tastes in music. Would you agree or disagree that your musical tastes are diverse, and it could be attributed to your fondness of classical music. How? or Why not?
If you identify with Group 2, at some time in the past you may have had a moment where you voluntarily listened to classical music. Because you can take it or leave it, you are being asked to comment on the first time you noticed or identified what your heard as classical music. (It could be anywhere…. movie, video game audio file, television program, a friend may have been playing classical music, maybe you changed radio stations and accidentally landed on a classical station but you didn’t change the channel. Would you be inclined to listen to slightly more classical music, after completing this course? Why or Why not? Would you say that you are opposed to the conformity of classical music. Lastly, describe you musical tastes. Would you agree or disagree that your musical tastes are diverse? Why or Why not?

If you identify with Group 3, it is not limited to those that simply do not like classical music. Because you have taken this course, be sure to describe any and all experiences with music listening and live concerts you have attended. Next, identify the medium (instrumentation / vocal range of the singer(s) of one of the artists/bands you’ve listed.(be sure to embed the video) Below the embedded video establish a musical connection with any of the instruments and vocals to that of classical music. Since the beginning of the semester, can you recall any instance where you heard something in the music played in class, that maybe you had not heard before? Describe a scenario where classical music could have positive or negative emotional response. In either instance, provide details of the thought process behind the transformative power of classical music. I you’ve not responded to either of these detailed topics, go to youtube and listen to Josef Haydn’s Symphony #100, the first movement. Listen to it in its entirety. (1st movement only) In a complete sentence describe the initial emotional mood from the first thematic melody. Identify the instruments (medium) that are the dominant voice in stating the initial theme. Lastly, describe your musical tastes. Would you agree or disagree that your musical tastes are diverse? Why or Why not?

Topic 2. (Explain in full what you are referring to. Do not assume the reader knows what you are writing about)
Explain the point behind his impersonation a 7 year old, an 8 year old , a 9 year old and finally a 10 year old when first learning to play the piano.
Most important, on a personal level provide a parallel to an activity (musical or non-musical) where it was necessary to develop a specific skill over time. (Athletics, Video Gamer, anything that required mental and physical development)
Once identified, and it must be identified, elaborate on each level of development experienced over time. Be specific as it related to your personal achievements. Be sure to make the connection between levels of competency of the child pianist and your developed skill.
Topic 3. (Explain the context of the statement, without rewriting the question)
Provide your comments based on what he instructed the studio and viewing audience to do.
In the final segment of the presentation, the audience is asked to listen to the piano excerpt, and think about someone in your life that is no longer with us (whether a close friend, grandparent, etc.)
Share your emotional response as result of Chopin’s piano prelude. (be specific)
