Executive Summary
After you have written your student blog social media marketing plan, please summarize the main ideas in this single-spaced executive summary. (1 page)
Market Research
Begin your marketing research by explaining the idea behind your blog. Explain who would read the blog and what type of valuable content you will be providing to your readers. Include a section with a competitive analysis. Discuss competing blogs and discuss what value they bring to readers. When does your follower read blogs? What type of comments do you see on your competitor blogs? Talk about the blog structure, design, post schedule, content and anything else that you think is important. Next, summarize what makes your blog different from your competition. (1 page)
Targeting/Positioning
Now that you understand the competitor blogs in the market, research your Target Market (TARKET). Define your target reader in terms of demographics, psychographics, and social media behaviors. Where does your TARKET find information through their social networks? Make a list of keywords using Google tools (like Google Keyword Planner) that your TARKET might be searching for on Google. After you have analyzed this information, create a social media positioning map that compares your blog to the other blogs in the blogosphere. If you forgot what a positioning map is from MKTG 3600 here is a short explanation http://www.marketingteacher.com/positioning/ (Links to an external site.)(1/2 page)
Social Media Audit
Since this is a new blog, most of your stats will be at 0. However, if you already have a blog please list your stats so we can see your progress over the semester. Take a snapshot of your competitions’ social media audit. Look at how many people comment on your competitors’ blog posts. You can also look at their social media platforms like Facebook/Instagram/Twitter (if they have them) to see how many people are following their blog. You can put this information in a chart. (1/2 page)
Objectives
Set goals for your blog in terms of analytics. Since we are using WordPress.com, you will need to look at the analytics features in WordPress.com to understand how to drive traffic. Write down at least 3 objectives for your blog. Objectives can be to increase followers to 30, to inform you TARKET about products or services, to create blog awareness, etc. (½ page)
Marketing Strategy
Determine the best strategy to achieve your KPI objectives. Will you use an advertising, engagement, contests, sales promotions, product reviews, positioning strategy? Talk about your strategic ideas to reach your KPIs. (1 ½ pages)
Measurable Metrics
Forecast how you will get followers for your blog. List the top three ways you will obtain followers. (½ page)
Editorial Content Planning Document
Create an editorial content planning document that outlines your blog content schedule with hard deadlines for yourself. You will need to create a schedule for 10 blog posts (2 blog posts for the next 5 weeks), with due dates for each post. Remember you need 2 list posts, 2 narrative posts, 2 sectional posts, 2 multimedia posts, and two posts of your choosing. Although your student blog should sound fresh and current, having a plan gives you a marketing strategy for where your brand is going and how to get there. Create a spreadsheet with calendar dates and content ideas. The spreadsheet chart should have the following: headers date, Blog title, Blog type (list, narrative, sectional, or multimedia), and call to action. (1 page)
