After completing the Pecha Kucha presentations, each student will be required to view a minimum of FIVE recorded presentations posted on the Pecha Kucha Presentations Discussion Board.
Once the minimum number of video presentations have been viewed, each student will write a 3-4 page final reflection paper that will incorporate the following four objectives- you must address EACH of the following: critical thinking, social responsibility, personal responsibility and clear articulation of ideas (communication). The descriptions are below.
1. Critical Thinking and Presentation Summaries:
For each recorded presentation, provide a one-paragraph summary that covers the main points addressed in each presentation.
Name and discuss perspectives on courtship and marriage presented in the PKs
How would you reconcile potential cultural differences in your romantic relationship? Think about all of the different influences that could affect the relationship.
2. Social Responsibility:
Within those summaries, identifies and describe these new cultural perspectives and the new information that you have learned.
3. Personal Responsibility
This portion of the reflection is intended to get you to think about your own ethical and cultural values and how those are applied within a social context (i.e., your past experiences, beliefs, values and how they impact your existence in a culturally diverse society).
Briefly describe your own cultural beliefs regarding dating and marriage. For example, I am Jewish and I was expected to date a nice Jewish boy and have a traditional Jewish wedding with all the requisite traditions. After describing the values you were raised with or currently believe, answer the following questions:
How do these beliefs influence your romantic relationships?
Describe how you would respond if you were interested in starting or maintaining a relationship with someone who holds distinctly different beliefs as your own. Would this even be an option for you? How would you respond? How would your social networks/family respond?
How do your beliefs compare to the perspectives presented in the PKs?
4. Communication
Work is typed, error free, and grammatically sound.
APA format used – double-spaced, Times New Roman font, 1-inch margins. Correct headings and subheadings used.
Reflection is clearly organized.
