– Last year I was the Junior Executive of STEMPIRE (a club at North Park Secondary School) and now I’ve taken on the role as President
– Junior executive duties originally were attendance, meeting minutes, creating lesson plans, researching topics, and presenting
– Initiatives I took as a Junior Executive:
o Ran my own meeting about a lesson that I created
o Introduced new ideas like jeopardy games to motivate students
o began to oversee club members, present new and fresh ideas, and enthusiasm in team meetings
o helped other executives with their duties, took initiative
o took leadership in helping students learn by being enthusiastic and leadership in proving that you can help the club
– All of these led to the current president promoting me to becoming the next president for the following year
o Now I oversee 100+ club members and 10 executives,
o my duties include:
§ delegating tasks
§ creating fresh and new ideas with marketing plans
§ recruiting new executive teams
§ coordinating with teaching staff to meet expectations
§ planning new events and activities
– STEMPIRE has now introduced a new science and business competition, has grown 3x since the last year and the club has successfully held 10 events as of January
– I’ve always believed that “leadership is an action, not a position”, and I’ve strived to showcase that throughout any leadership roles I conquer
