Briefly present some of the major concepts associated with the experiment.

Include the following items in your report in this order.

1. Names of you and your partner(s), if any.
2. [Typed] Write an abstract for this experiment.
3. Include the items in the section titled Report – Details.
4. Submit a photocopy of the relevant pages of your lab manual.
General notes:
1. Answers to questions should be justified with explanation or evidence. Merely reporting an
answer is usually not sufficient.

2. The abstract should be just a paragraph, but more than a few sentences – probably around half a
page, typed. It should be detailed enough for the reader to get the general idea of the activity and
how much work was involved, but it should not be an exhaustive to-do list. It must include the
items below.
(a) Purpose: Consider both the experimental goal and the learning goal.
(b) Procedure: Focus on what chemicals, reactions, equipment, analysis were used so the reader
gets a general idea. No one will use your abstract as a step-by-step guide.
(c) Theory: Briefly present some of the major concepts associated with the experiment.
(d) Results: Report some results with units and uncertainty.

3. For any example calculations you must show:
(a) all units
(b) any conversion factors used – don’t do things in your head

4. All graphs should be created and presented professionally:
(a) typically use the scatter plot option; don’t connect the dots
(b) include a title which does not just reference the axes since you’ll label those anyway next
(c) label the axes and include any units
(d) show any trendlines and their equations
(e) rewrite the trendline with units added to the slope and intercept
(f) graph size should be at least ¼ of a standard page for easy reading – ½ the page is better
(g) use the graph area wisely so that data behavior is easy to appreciate
(h) include some minor gridlines for interpolation and extrapolation
