Week 2 assignments: Here are the activities to complete this week. Week 3 Essay: The Harvard article from your course pack, Building More Trust Between Doctors and Patients (Casey et al., 2018), is the source reading for this assignment. On page 6, the authors observe that empathy saves lives as well as money and time. Using the writing expectations on page 2 of your DHA 802 course syllabus, support this observation with evidence from other scholarly research sources. You need to include a title page, a 3-page essay, and a reference page. Provide intext citations in the essay for every source you reference. Examples of APA parenthetical citations are posted at the top of this Moodle page. Include the source reading as a citation in the essay and as a reference on the reference page. Use the objective voice to support your topic. Zoom Videoconference: Participate in the Zoom session for your section. All time references will be Eastern Standard Time. Section A will teleconference at 12 noon, Section B at 1 p.m., and Section C at 2 p.m. The Saturday Zoom schedule will remain constant for each section and will alternate between Dr. Gupta (weeks 1, 3, 5, 7…) and Dr. Hammond (weeks 2, 4, 6, and 8). If you cannot participate in the Zoom session, a videotape of the session will be posted. If you opt for watching the replay of the session, I am requesting a half-page summary of your takeaways of the session. All your communiques to me need to be grammatically correct, in full sentences, and thoughtfully presented. I take attendance; participating in Zoom sessions is an important aspect of your grade and success in this course. Come prepared to this videoconference by carefully reading the writing criteria from the syllabus and the instructions for your first essay assignment. Required readings: In Week 2, you are required to read Chapter 5 from Stephen Covey’s classic book, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood), which is included as a post in your Moodle assignment instructions for Week 2. Also, you are assigned to read Active Listening from your Harvard coursepack. Moodle Discussion Board: Just like Week 1, you will submit two discussion board posts on the selected topics and submit responses to two of your classmates’ posts, preferably one for each topic. The deadline for submitting your topic and response posts is Sunday at 11:55 p.m. (Eastern time). Each week, you will submit two topic posts and two posts responding to your section mates. Again, you will respond to the posts of your classmates. The response posts need to be submitted prior to the deadline on Monday of the program week. I will regularly monitor your topic posts and your response posts. You will receive a grade on this portion at the end of the semester. For Week 2, we will examine one of the concepts identified in your course syllabus and required readings. You should regularly utilize the Business Source Complete databases from the myDHA Portal to add research bits to your submissions.
