Instructions
Write a 4-5 page business report in which you provide the following:
Write a one-page executive summary that highlights your report.
Formulate three business problems that justify the need for a project.
Develop a specific business problem for each of the following three areas: leadership, information systems, and marketing management.
For each of the three business problems, describe how it relates to concerns that businesspeople in the larger industry, field, or area care about.
Support your problem statements by presenting evidence from scholarly literature.
For each of the three problem statements, include an illustration that shows how the problem was narrowed down using a fishbone diagram (Ishikawa diagram) or a cause-and-effect diagram, where you identified the problem, worked out the major factors involved, identified possible causes, and analyzed your diagram to determine the focus of your problem statement.
Select one of your problems and propose a potential Riipen type project that is related to one of your problem statements and can be completed by a Capella learner. Be sure to detail the scope of the potential project. You can assume you are writing a project for CapraTek.
Your report should include the following headings:
Executive Summary.
Leadership Business Problem.
Information Systems Business Problem.
Marketing Business Problem.
Project Proposals.
Summary.
Using Riipen to find Project Example
Here is what to do to explore projects in Riipen:
Select the Riipen link, which will take you to the Riipen homepage. Select “Explore” in the upper ribbon. This will take you to the Explore page. You will see where you are asked to sign in. DO NOT SIGN IN OR REGISTER. Select “Explore” in the upper right-hand ribbon again and you will get a drop-down menu. Select “Projects” from the drop-down menu. You will then see a list of projects. You can type in the Search bar (on the left) a topic (i.e., Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, etc.) and this will take you to specific projects on your selected topic. Again, DO NOT SIGN IN OR REGISTER.

EXTRA NOTES TO CONSIDER:
To do this, we will be using a fictitious company, CapraTek, for our case study. The audience for Assessments 2 through 5 is the top management of the company. The company is about to embark on a change in their business and have hired you to see if the company itself is ready.
When given a case study in doctoral courses, you must discuss only what you can deduce from the text of the case itself. You cannot make up any data or information about CapraTek.
This course is about learning how to identify and understand business problems, with the goal of being to examine them well. It is not about solving problems. Nowhere in the assessment instructions or scoring guides is there anything about solving problems. So, please do not offer solutions!
Rather, recommend ideas, concepts, tools, or platforms that CapraTek might consider as they discover for themselves if there are problems.
Again, this course is NOT about solving problems, so please do not offer any solutions.
When starting to work on an assessment, please carefully review the detailed assessment instructions and the Scoring Guide criteria. You are expected to meet every one of these requirements in detail.
Tips for Assessment
1. This course is about identifying and understanding business problems. It is NOT about solving them! So please do not try to. Focus on understanding the problems well.
2. CapraTek is a fictional company that will be the focus of this course.
3. When identifying problems, the Best Practice is to say “The xxx problem is …” and follow with exactly one problem. This will help you stay focused and develop sub-problems.
4. You will be writing a “Riipen” type project of a scope that a Capella learner can dol You can assume you are writing a project for Capratek based on one of your formulated problem statements that could be completed by a Capella learner. For clarity, you are only using Riipen to find ideas for a project; you will not be conducting a project for Riipen.
