Byronic characters in modern literature

Characters often associated with the “hero” created by Lord Byron still exist in film and fiction today. (The following link may offer some insight into the heroes with roots in Byron’s work: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ByronicHero). Examples of such modern Byronic characters in modern literature/film are, according to this site, Severus Snape and Remus Lupin. Write a 500-750 word essay in which you illustrate that one of these (or another character from the Harry Potter series) conforms to the Byronic character standards. (Students may use outside sources but all sources must be cited properly in either MLA or APA format.)
