For the first part of this week we will do a political cartoon. I KNOW some of you can not draw. That’s fine–Neither can I….who cares! Some of you are total artists and will create amazing images. But all of you can engage in political critique and historical analysis and that is all that matters for this assignment. Each one of your discussion posts is political critique every week. In a political cartoon, you are engaging in political critique with a touch of sarcasm, irony, parody or other form of humor (if possible). You need the videos in this Module and read Howard Zinn Chapter 11. So you are going to do a political cartoon that does the following:
1) Show us how Chinese, white and black workers were ALL attacked in the 1880s. Use the Haymarket massacre from Howard Zinn to discuss how European immigrant workers were attacked. Use the videos about Rock Springs etc on the Chinese question. And use Slavery by Another name video for the convict leasing.
2) Think about how you can CONNECT THE DOTS by showing the common thread that links all
