Carbohydrates

Whether you are studying for an exam or daydreaming about your next vacation, your brain needs carbohydrates to power its activities. Your muscles need carbohydrates to fuel their work. Where can you get carbohydrates? Are some foods healthier choices than others? The balance between how much insulin is in your body and the carbohydrates you eat makes a difference in your blood glucose levels.

After studying Module 4: Lecture Materials & Resources, complete the “Risk of Diabetes Assessment” and answer the following:

1- Were you surprised by your results? Explain why or why not.
2-Use one paragraph to explain why the bulk of the diet should be carbohydrates, including a description of the types of foods that should be eaten. The second paragraph should explain in detail why carbohydrates can be bad for you (give at least three examples). Finally, use the third paragraph to summarize how carbohydrates should be consumed in a way that makes them part of a healthy diet.
