History Assessment Essay Guidelines and Rubric
Why are we doing this?
As part of the general education of every UWG student, this course aims to teach students to understand the political, social, economic, or cultural dimensions of world history. The purpose of this assignment is to measure the extent to which students in all sections of this course have learned what we have been trying to teach. We will collect and analyze essays from all sections in order to find ways to help future students learn this material more fully.
What, exactly, do we need to do for this assignment?
Each student will write an essay answering the following question:

[Insert your own question here. Example:
As you reflect back on what you have learned this semester, what do you think was one of the most important political, social, economic, or cultural developments during this period of world history (ancient history to 1500)? Explain how and why this development emerged, how it changed (or didn’t change) over time, and how it shaped the development of world history. Please organize your essay chronologically, but with a clear thesis statement and arguments supported with evidence from specific facts and concepts that you learned in this course. Your essay should be at least three paragraphs long – although feel free to write a longer essay if you would like.]
The strongest answers will include substantial, accurate factual information, including specific, examples relevant to the political, social, economic, or cultural dimensions of the question addressed. The strongest answers will accurately use relevant historical terms and demonstrate sophisticated and nuanced understanding of the material. The strongest answers will show the ability to apply historical perspective, which focuses on understanding the past and pays attention to historical context, as well as change or continuity over time.
To produce a strong essay, students will need to:
1. Closely read these instructions and the question posed

2. Brainstorm ideas about how to approach the question and material from the course relevant to the question (feel free to use the History Assessment Essay Worksheet below to assist you with your

A man-made incident – examples include civil disorder, terrorism, crime, arson, chemical spills.
A natural disaster incident – examples include hurricanes, weather incidents, avalanches, droughts, landslides, flooding, earthquakes.
Second, Write the Script

Write the scriipt message you will convey in a Voice Mail distributed to all employees addressing the office closure, remember, without inducing panic.

Elaborate on the transition to remote work. No need to detail remote work instructions, your task is to inform of the transition.

** Make the assumption all employees are familiar with remote procedures.

**This portion of your recording must be 2-3 minutes.

Third, Research an Example

Research a real-world example of a company that faced an unexpected closure similar to YOUR incident (if your incident is technological, this example must be technological, if your incident is man-made, your real-world example must be man-made; if your incident is natural, your real-world example must also be a natural disaster), share how the real-world company communicated to their employees and stakeholders of the office closure. Share your findings after/at the end of your audio message (after the scenario Voice Mail).

Fourth, Record your Message – In a 2-3 minute audio message, the following elements must be present:

Convey the immediate office closure without causing panic.
Elaborate the immediate transition process for remote work to employees.
You must convey they are NOT to come to the building.
AFTER the message
Include an example from the research you conducted of a company unexpectedly closing and how employees were communicated to keep employees from returning to work. This researched example is NOT due to fiscal or store closure; the example must be disaster-related and NOT COVID related. Finally, how did this real-world example of a company that faced unexpected closure communicate to employees and stakeholders.

Your scriipt AND the Reference for your Example MUST be submitted with the audio recording.

Medication error assignment

Catastrophic safety events, like medication errors, are almost never caused by isolated errors committed by individuals. Most adverse events result from a series of circumstances in environments with underlying system flaws and failure points. In a culture of safety, health systems understand and acknowledge the high-risk and complex nature of providing care to patients. These health systems will also maintain a just culture in which they promote a blame-free environment so individuals can report errors or near misses without fear of negative consequences, reprimand, or punishment. Health systems that maintain a culture of safety also encourage collaboration among staff to identify opportunities to improve patient safety and have an organizational commitment to provide resources that will help address safety concerns and further prevent system failures” (Zangaro et al., 2023, para. 2).”To overcome the fear of reporting and promote a culture of transparency and accountability, healthcare organizations must create a safe and nonpunitive environment for reporting, build trust with healthcare workers so that they feel comfortable reporting, provide training and education on the reporting process, and demonstrate the importance of learning from errors rather than punishing those who make them. Lessons learned from adverse events could help improve future patient safety. Identifying and mitigating hazards helps healthcare systems identify ways to avoid repeating errors, prevent further harm, and implement improvements” (Zangaro et al., 2023, para. 10).The entire article is visible here: https://psnet.ahrq.gov/perspective/impact-system-failures-healthcare-workersIn this activity, you will create a fictional medication error (older adult). By asking you to write an incident report, it is a kind of forced mistake where you can see and imagine how a failure would look and feel. But by exposing you to an error in a safe environment, we can reform it into something instructive, good, and constructive. This activity forces you to accept a failure that happened, anticipate client needs once it happens, and reflect on the emotions that will inevitably come with a medication mistake.Download the Medication Error/Incident Report form.On Page 1 of the document, create a fictional medication error (older adult). It can be as simple or as complex as you choose, but it should be an error that reaches the client. Complete all fields. The BEERS guide might help you as you create your fictional medication error: AGS-2023-BEERS-Pocket-PRINTABLE.pdf (usc.edu)On Page 2 of the document, think about what happens after the medication error. What assessment data would you anticipate? What happens next? What additional monitoring, labs, or testing is needed? You must always notify the provider, but should you also notify respiratory therapy, the rapid response team, etc?On Page 3 of the document, reflect on how it feels to create a fictional error, and also how a nurse might respond if they truly made this error. How will you prepare to notify the provider and/or family, and what suggestions do you have so an error like this never happens?https://gwep.usc.edu/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/AGS-2023-BEERS-Pocket-PRINTABLE.pdfhttps://psnet.ahrq.gov/perspective/impact-system-failures-healthcare-workers

Psychology Question

For this paper you are asked to
observe the behavior of someone (human or animal) and to apply the basic goals of psychology
(describe, explain, predict, control) towards trying to understand that behavior.
Remember: To observe something means that you simply watch. You do not put yourself into
the situation you are observing, otherwise it is considered an experiment. Discuss the person or animal that you choose to observe and why. Is the
observation about something you see every day in a workplace or at home or some other place
you frequent?
3. Description: Who or what is being observed? What is the location? Time of day? Weather? Are
others present? Details about the person, gender, dress, age, are they able to move around? Are
they with someone else? If you are observing an animal, add detail about the animal – what
kind, appearance of being well taken care of, friendliness, etc. The key here is detail, detail,
detail!
4. Explain: Why do you think that the person or animal is doing what they are doing? Did you observe something that preceded the behavior? What was it? Explain what happened.
5. Prediction: Do you think that the same behavior would occur again under the circumstances?
Explore the possibilities. The what ifs?
6. Control: In your opinion, do you think that different conditions would cause a different change in
behavior? What would you suggest? Do you think it would work?
7. Conclusion: Wrap up your paper with your thoughts about doing this assignment. Did you like
it? Did you learn anything from it? Has it caused you to be more observant of your own
surroundings?
