What the source is (journal, book, website, etc.) and what the source offers as far as information.

Synthesis Paper Assignment: Complete the Annotated Bibliography section for your synthesis paper. READ THE DIRECTIONS BELOW CAREFULLY!! This section of your paper should be placed in the Annotated Bibliography section in your Shell – AFTER THE REFERENCE SECTION. The Annotated Bibliography has two parts to each source listed: The Reference: in correct APA format (Please use the resources I have shared on how to reference correctly as well as using “hanging” format!) The Annotation: A summary of what the source is (journal, book, website, etc.) and what the source offers as far as information. The annotation for each source is a minimum of 3 complete sentences and no more than 5. You don’t need to write a book for the annotation – simply tell what the source is and what it shares – make it simple! The annotation is directly below the reference and is indented as a block paragraph .5 inches for the entire paragraph aligned with the indented hanging portion of the reference. The 6 sources chosen for the Annotated Biblio ARE the sources for your paper. ALL SOURCES YOU CHOOSE THIS WEEK SHOULD BE THE ONES YOU WANT TO USE FOR YOUR PAPER! If you are having issues with your margins, alignment, formatting, etc. check the below to make sure all the settings are correct. Formatting can be touchy unless the paper is set to the below. Margins of your paper are 1 inch on all sides (go to Margins under Page Layout and set – be sure there are no tab stops set except for the default tab stop of .5 for the main tab) No spaces between paragraphs or headings. Go to Paragraph in Word; look under Spacing – the Before and After boxes both should read 0.

Text should align left (also go to Paragraph and look under General.) To “hang” references: setting should match the above first. Highlight the entire reference/reference list, go to ‘Paragraph’ section in Word, click on the drop down for ‘Specials’ and choose ‘hanging’. (You may need to tab in some lines – the first line in each reference should be flush left; the rest should be .5 inches indented.) Tips on APA References: The references should be in a “hanging” paragraph format where the first line is left aligned and the rest are .5 inches indented. The reference list should be alphabetized by first author noted in the source (do not change the order of the author’s in the source itself); websites and organizations are included in this rule. Organizations should always be spelled out fully in the reference list and NOT abbreviated. List should be in Times New Roman, font 12, double spaced, before and after boxes at 0! No extra spaces between sources. Title of works only capitalizes the first word in each section (for example after a colon the word is capitalized) and proper nouns; all other words are lower case for EVERY title. Journal names have each main word capitalized and are italicized. Volume #s are italicized. The issue # and page #s are not italicized. The volume #, issue # and page #s are formatted a specific way. Ex. Journal of Education, 12(3), 45-50. NOTICE PUNCTUATION! Hyperlinks (URLs) should not be blue and underlined. They should be all black regular type. Punctuation is specific for APA! Be sure it is correct! Every period, every comma has to be correct! No first names or credentials in references! Only last names and first/middle initials! The annotation part starts on the following line after the reference – see the example! Do not trust the formatting of references in the search sites! Follow the APA TIP SHEET and complete yourself!! Write in 1st person. Write about how being visually imparied has given you a hard time adapting in school, during the first grade. Be creative, add some personal situations. Write about how you had to repeat the first grade because you couldnt see anything whatsoever. Make it original, and creative, yet formal. Tie the whole story into how you have learned from that expeirience. Here is an example, to get a feel of the tone, “Being visually impaired, it is unusual for me to remember living life seeing shapes not distinguishable until I came at least 10 feet near them. Or not being able to see details until they were a couple inches away from my face. Then again, that was normal for me during my early childhood years. I remember my first day of kindergarten, I became timorous at the thought of being in a classroom filled with random children I didn’t know, much less couldn’t see. I eventually got to know my peers, and ended up becoming close companions with them.

As the months in school progressed, adapting to different concepts, and learning techniques that my teachers would use made my school life even more challenging. I hated the white board, or any board that was excessively far from few. Learning how to read was probably my most challenging obstacle, I could barely see the book, let alone read the words. It was my first year of school and I was already giving up. I would often compare myself to other students, admire their ability to read, The Cat in the Hat. I honestly thought I wasn’t capable of ever reading. Eventually the school found out there was something wrong with my vision, so they informed my mom. If it couldn’t get any worse, it did, not only was I considered the worst in my class but I was also known as “four eyes”. ” You are free to add or do what you think is necassary for this mini essay.
