Tutorial for Scholarly Research

Good annotations: Use proper MLA Citation & Works Citedand have a detailed reading of the source, covering the following: Summarizes key points, and identifies key terms (using quotation marks, and citing a page in parentheses);Locates controversies or “problems” raised by the articles; States whether the student agrees or disagrees and gives reasons; Locates one or two quotations to be used in the research paper; and Evaluates the ways in which this article is important and has helped the student to focus his/her understanding. Example Citation: Mezirow, J. “Transformative Learning as Discourse.” Journal of Transformative Education, 1(1), 58-63, 2003. Annotation Example: In this article, Mezirow makes a distinction between “instrumental” and “communicative” learning. “Instrumental learning” refers to those processes which measure and gage learning, such as tests, grades, comments, quizzes, attendance records and the like. “Communicative learning,” on the other hand, refers to understanding created over time between individuals in what Mezirow calls “critical-dialectical-discourse,” which is a fancy way of saying, important conversation between 2 or more speakers (59). Another key idea Mezirow discusses is “transformative learning,” which changes the mind, the heart, the values and beliefs of people so that they may act better in the world (61) . Mezirow argues that “hungry, desperate, homeless, sick, destitute, and intimidated people obviously cannot participate fully and freely in discourse” (59). On the one hand, he is right: there are some people who cannot fully engage because their crisis is so long and deep, they are prevented. But, I don’t think Mezirow should make the blanket assumption that everyone in unfortunate circumstances is incapable of entering the discourse meaningfully. One thing is certain: if we gave as much attention to the non-instrumental forms of intelligence–like goodness, compassion, forgiveness, wonder, self-motivation, creativity, humor, love, and other non-measured forms of intelligence in our school curriculum, we’d see better people, actors in the world, and interested investigators than we currently have graduating high school.

Self-Efficacy in the Workplace Albert Bandura

3 page (double-spaced) paper including a strong thesis statement, introduction, body (presents your evidence and arguments), and conclusion. Choose one theory from the course and argue for its relevance in the workplace.

This paper should focus on a different topic from the one chosen in your expository essay. This paper should take on the tone of arguing for the relevance and importance of a particular topic. As we know, some of our workplaces today lack the consideration of the theories and concepts discussed in our class. Your job is to argue for its relevance by using compelling arguments and evidence. Generic statements or circular reasoning will result in a reduction of points. For example, if you were to write any variation of the following quote you will not receive full credit “emotions are important in the workplace because emotions are important.” Think about being a business consultant writing this paper, how will you get your client to buy into what you are suggesting? 3 – 6 page (double-spaced) paper including a strong thesis statement, introduction, body (presents your evidence and arguments), and conclusion. The history of piracy and how they became enemies against humanity

Times new roman 12 point font
This is a history of terrorism paper in which I had to select a terrorist group to write about. The terrorist group I chose is pirates. As such you will need to argue why they are considered terrorists. You must explain how pirates went from state sanctioned terrorists too enemies against humanity who were just international terrorists terrorizing the waters. What did pirates and the different powers (like the english crown, the east indian trading company, etc) involved achieve? what were their motivations?
There is a docuseries on netflix named explained. Season 2 episode 5 explains what time period i want you to focus on and what I want this paper to be about. You must talk about the surge of piracy, different pirate groups from the different seas including europe asia and america.
This a history research paper, so everything must be grounded in fact and what happened, not your personal thoughts, opinions, or assumptions. You must include the who what when where why and how of everything, but keep it relavent to the paper. Even the way you’ll be arguing that this is terrorism must be grounded in the notes that I will provide in the link below. You’ll be doing this by matching up the motivations, perspectives, definitions and actors involved. For example: piracy was state sanctioned terrorism because the state sanctioned it for the reasons that they did which should be one of the motivations that are used in the notes, because the history should match up with it arguably. This includes motivations for pirates to resort to piracy, the politics, economics, etc.
