Tasks:
To prepare for this discussion, review the Attachment Styles information on the Infancy and Childhood page, and read this article from Greater Good magazine about Cultivating a More Secure Attachment Style.
Think about how connected (or disconnected) you feel to this class and the people in it. If it would be helpful, you can “rate” your connection on a scale that makes sense to you (1-10, 1-100, etc.)
Choose 3 questions to answer (and share with the class) from the options in either Set I or Set II from this list (you may want to try some questions from Set III with a close friend or partner). Make sure you choose questions you feel comfortable answering “in front of the class.” Write out your answers so that you’ve thought them through beforehand and have had an opportunity to “rehearse” your answers.
Practice answering your three questions, and then video yourself answering them. Keep your video under the 2-3 minute mark. IMPORTANT: Watch this video for detailed instructions on how to best record your video directly within the post using your computer’s webcam. Note you will need to make sure your Chrome or Firefox browser allows GoView access to record video. This method avoids long download times and protects everyone’s computer from infected files.
After posting your video, watch and listen to your classmates’ posts. Comment supportively and/or positively, but make sure you do so authentically – no responses like “great video” or “I agree.” Keep it meaningful.
After you’ve responded to at least 3 of your classmates’ posts, take a moment to notice your feelings, both generally and towards the class (including whether your “rating” did or didn’t change).
What kind of impact do you think an exercise like this would have on your close relationships, and why?
What kind of effect would this or a similar experience have if it happened on a regular basis with the same people (i.e., a family or work team), and why?
Do you think it’s possible to cultivate a more secure attachment style, versus just more secure close relationships? Why or why not?

Write a compare/ contrast essay about the family unit in the 40’s or 50’s verses a family unit today (gender roles, number of parents, types of parents, the American dream, etc. should be compared.

Assignment Overview & Purpose:
You are going to be watching two 50 min. videos length, and writing a reflection that analyzes presidential action of Bush and Obama in order to assess the development of executive authority, and analyze constitutionality. I have provided you with multiple objectives, relative to this topic. You will select 1, from those provided, below, to write your response.
The purpose of this assignment is two fold. First, it provides you with resources that can be used for future independent research outside of the reading and writing methods–especially useful for those of you audio and visual learners. Second, it gives you an inside look into two Presidential administrations that have been surrounded by bias and partisan media criticism and praise. Now that you have a better understanding of executive authority it is time for you to apply what you have learned, as evidence, to analyze presidential power in relation to modern political debates of “constitutionality of action” from you own personal perspective.
Formatting Requirements and Submission When writing your essay, respond to the prompt thoroughly, and completely. Essays must be a minimum of 2 pages in length, double spaced, 1 inch margins, 12 point font, and written in Times New Roman.
Your response should be your own thoughts and analysis. Research and resources should be incorporated with scholarly application. I.e. used as examples or evidence to support your analysis. Citations may be formatted in APA, MLA or Chicago style, as long as they are consistent throughout. You must include in-text (parenthetical) citations, as well as a bibliography.If you have questions about citation formatting, please ask me, or utilize the tool easybib.com. You must provide in-text citations, to show ownership of any information that you include, in your essay, which is either
1. not considered common knowledge
2. paraphrased
3. directly quoted

Completion Expectations
“A” papers should include a critical analysis of the video’s by applying at least 1 example from each film to support your position.

3. After watching the movie(s) apply what you learned to defend your interpretation of Article II in relation to types, limitation, or necessary conditions presidential power by assessing if informal powers, outside of the constitution, exist; or if what is enumerated is what the president has executive authority to do.
