Watch the Maafa video and write a two page summary of the video. Three are four part of the video: the capture, the middle passage(boat ride), auction block, and plantation life. Make sure to include the four parts in summary. How did the slave masters use religion to control your ancestors? What were the breeding plantations?

Why do some African Americans put their index finger up when they are existing church? Did this behavior come from the slavery era when your ancestors had to get permission to leave the church to use the restroom or leave the church?
What is the origin of hushpuppies? Did your ancestors develop this food during the slavery era to assist your ancestors who wanted to escape the plantation by throwing the hushpuppies at dogs on the plantation to keep them from barking and waking up the overseers and plantation owner while the female ancestors were trying to sneak food to those ancestors whom wanted to escape the plantation?

Write an essay analyzing how the American Dream is portrayed in a minimum of two of the major works we read this year. Be detailed in your response and make sure to reference specific characters, themes, and ideas to write your analysis.
