book review paper(Western history from the period before 800 )

Grading Rubric
An A paper will address all of the following points:
Papers must be written in college-level English.
Papers must be at least 1000 words in length.
Papers must review an approved or appropriate book.
Papers must have a thesis and support that thesis in the body of the paper.
Papers must not simply summarize the book being reviewed.
Papers must use the MLA system of citation with a Works Cited page, giving a full citation for the book being reviewed and any other books cited.
Paper Instructions
For this course, you will be required to complete a 1000+word (approximately 4-5 pages) book review paper. The paper will analyze a book that focuses on some aspect of Western history from the period before 800. (for example, the rise of farming, the Roman Empire, slavery or religion in the ancient world, the early Christian church)

Once you have chosen a book to review, you will write a 1000-1250 word essay analyzing the text. Because many students may think of a book report as little more than a summary of a books contents, I have used the term book review to emphasize that something more is expected. The student is expected to go beyond merely outlining the contents. Although it is, of course, important to summarize the contents of the book as part of the review, the student should analyze it in some depth. In reading the book, the student should pay attention to the footnotes and bibliography, seek out information about the author, and consult the text and other books to gain a wider perspective on the books subject.

The most important aspect of the essays is to determine the thesis or main argument of the book and describe how this is presented and supported. Is the case convincing? Does the author seem to have approached the topic from a relatively objective point of view, or is a clear bias apparent? What sources did the author use? Is the author clearly arguing against another historians interpretation of the subject? What is your opinion about the argument the author is making?

All books of history have some argument in the material they are presenting. Try to identify what this argument is and give your opinion about the validity of this approach. Your introductory paragraph should include your identification of the book’s argument and your opinion about that argument.

The main body of your reviews should be at 1000+ words in length (this is equivalent to at least 4 full pages in length, typed and double spaced, with margins no larger than 1 inch in width, using a standard word processing program). Every paper must have a full citation of the book being reviewed and a proper bibliography in the MLA style at the end if you have consulted any additional works.

The term big data refers to the vast amounts of data being generated from such sources as social media, real-world sensors (for weather, water quality, vehicle traffic, etc.), cellphone GPS signals, and customer transactions. The sheer volume of these data and new ways of managing and analyzing them are enabling applications in many fields that were not possible just a few years ago. Your paper will describe in detail one of these emerging applications of big data. Your paper should address the following questions regarding your chosen topic.
What new uses of big data are likely in this field in the next 5 years?
What are the main sources of big data used in this field?
What type of data security should be included?
What problems or issues are encountered in using big data in this field?
At least four current, authoritative references are required. Anonymous authors are not acceptable. Web sources, if used, must be authored by recognized experts in the field. At least three references must be peer-reviewed, scholarly papers. At least four references must-have publication dates within the last five years. Ethics and Advocacy

The purpose of this assignment is to explore ethical and advocacy issues as it relates to early childhood education.
Directions:
Read the following scenarios and respond to the reflective questions pertaining to ethics and advocacy.
Scenario 1
Ms. K is a veteran teacher who is very popular with her students. She frequently offers students extra help after school, so its not uncommon to see students visiting her classroom after school. She has tutored one of her students, Melissa, in a variety of subjects over a two year period. During that time, Ms. K has emailed and texted Melissas cell phone using her personal email address. At first, the exchanges were very general; sometimes unrelated to school work (e.g., asking Melissa about a sick family member, or how she was getting along with friends). Recently, the student began to text her teacher about more personal feelings.
What possible issues/concerns might this scenario raise?
How could this situation become a violation of the law, the Code or other school /district policies?
In this situation, what are some potential negative consequences for the teacher, for the students and the school community?
What responses/actions will result in a more positive outcome and/or what proactive measures might be considered?
Scenerio 2
Ms. P is a pre-k teacher. During open house she provides parents with her cell phone number to be used only in emergencies. Ms. P has students with special needs so this is often helpful since she doesnt have a phone in her classroom. One evening, she receives a message from a parent asking if their child had left their sweater at school. Ms. P politely responds that shed check when she returned to school. The following evening, the same parent sends a message thanking Ms. P for retrieving the childs sweater and asks if they could meet outside of school for coffee. Ms. P agrees to meet the parent.
What possible issues/concerns might this scenario raise?

Men’s health

There are two parts to this assignment, both parts need to be answered separately.
You need to answer this one question in a minimum of 5 complete and grammatically correct sentences (in essay format – no listing or outlining). You must write your answer in your own words and not directly use the author’s writings from the textbook.

PART 1) Intimate partner violence is a global public health crisis. It pervades all segments of society regardless of an individual’s race, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, country of origin, or sex.
How are gender roles/norms related to this issue?
Why does little information exist regarding violence against men?

PART 2) Chapter 10 covers Fatherhood. This chapter explores the essential functions of a father and the important role that they can play in families and parenting. On page 127, complete the self-assessment, “What’s your fatherhood style?”. This self-assessment may help you reflect on your preferred parenting style of fatherhood. After you complete the self-assessment, add up the total number of points and locate your scoring range.
Note: There is no right or wrong answers/range for this self-assessment. This assessment was designed to help readers shed light on their fatherhood style preferences. This assessment is gender-neutral. The self-assessment is strictly identifying how you would prefer your children to be fathered in the present or future.
Prompts:
What scoring range did you fall into? Were you at all surprised by this or does it make sense to you?
What factors in your personal life or past do you predict may have contributed to your results?
Are you pleased with your results? If so, elaborate as to why. If not, share what concerns you have.
