We have seen throughout this course how popular culture influences our attitudes, both positively and negatively. In this final paper, you will examine an artifact in pop culture to determine its message and effect.
For this assignment, select an artifact that, in your opinion, unfairly creates a negative bias or promotes a negative stereotype about one population of society. The pop culture artifact can be a media source (song, movie, television program), a product or other tangible associated with pop culture. Provide a link to this artifact (or an image). Explain why you have selected this artifact, and why you feel that this creates a negative bias. Describe how you would re-design or re-write the script of this artifact to change the way others would view this population.

There are many concepts around the consequences of a person’s behavior, notably success and effectiveness. This includes the success and effectiveness of students, supervisors, employees, and others in their careers. This also applies to private life and any academic setting.
By gaining MBTI-related awareness one can leverage their personality strengths to maximize relationship building and garner an improved and more effective academic success, a more productive work environment, a more satisfying life.
There is a direct link between one’s personality type and success at forging positive work relationships.
The following seven pointers indicate what readers can gain using MBTI awareness that helps them build their Emotional Intelligence:

The articulation of one overall emotional intelligence might be deceptive and suggest a close association with cognitive capability—traditionally defined “intelligence,” or what psychologists refer to as general cognitive ability (Davies & Stankov, 1998; Ackerman & Heggestad, 1997).
Insights into preferred modes of functioning help in any setting to become balanced in understanding, accepting and managing different types of personalities at work (identified by using MBTI, for instance), and have proven to be an effective strategy in developing their competencies. There are many tools to achieve this goal—MBTI is one of them. Others are Insights, STRONG, 360 evaluation (evaluation where all stakeholders provide input), etc.
A competency is defined as a capability or an ability. It is a set of related but different sets of behavior, organized around an underlying construct—the “intent.”
The behaviors are alternate manifestations of the intent, as appropriate in various situations or times. Listening to someone, and asking him or her questions, are examples of behaviors. MBTI helps assess the preferred behaviors and functioning modes, and integrate the findings to develop EI.
An integrated concept of emotional intelligence offers more than a convenient framework for describing human dispositions—it offers a theoretical structure for the organization of personality, linking it to a theory of action and job performance.

MBTI provides awareness that can lead to further development of these competencies in supervisors.

The Friendly Dawg is a retail pet supply store owned by Dave Dawgs. Dave has worked in the store since high school and took over running the store after his father died two years ago. Originally the store sold only pet food and supplies, such as animal food, bird cages, water bowls, pet beds, and so forth. Upon taking ownership, Dave added fish tanks with fish for sale. Recently he built a kennel and cages in a former storage area in the rear of the store in order to sell live animals, such as snakes, birds, dogs, and cats. Landlord Lou came by during renovations and asked what was going on. One of Dave’s employees told Lou that The Friendly Dawg was expanding its inventory and needed the space. Landlord Lou told the employee, “Very exciting! Good luck!”
A few weeks later, landlord Lou began receiving complaints from the neighboring tenant, the Sunshine Yoga studio, that the noise from the dogs and parrots was very disruptive.
The signed lease between Dave Dawg’s deceased father and Lou describes the business as a pet supply store only and does not mention selling live animals. The lease specifies a rent in the amount of $500 a month. Sunshine Yoga does not have a written lease. The owner of Sunshine Yoga, Jasmine, met Lou one night in a bar two years ago where he verbally offered to rent her the space for $300 a month. Jasmine claims that landlord Lou told her that night that she could rent from him forever and that he would never evict her.
Lou called Dave, asking him to quiet the animals. Dave said he would try, but the complaints from Jasmine continued. Dave also demanded that Lou improve the air-conditioning system, claiming it was too hot in the rear of the store for his animals and it was causing them to become agitated. Landlord Lou refused, claiming that air-conditioning was not meant to cool that area and it was not his job as landlord to take care of live animals.
Dave stopped paying his rent, claiming that he was not obligated to do so because Lou was breaching his obligation under the lease to maintain the property in good repair.
