Exam 3 is an essay exam with one question. Please respond in three paragraphs of 3-5 sentences per paragraph.
In this class we have used three sociological perspectives: consensus (functionalism), conflict, and symbolic interactionism. These three perspectives are the ways of looking at the world that inform social structure, critical, and social process theories.
The last third of the class has included three types of crimes: economic crime, public order crime, and cybercrime.
Perspective: Crime type
Functionalism: Economic
Conflict: Public Order
Symbolic interactions: Cybercrime
In each paragraph, pair one perspective with one crime type. Use each perspective once and each crime type once. You don’t need to pair them the same way I did in the table; I just wrote them down in the order we covered them.
For each paragraph:
Choose one crime from the crime type you’re using in that paragraph. It doesn’t have to be a specific crime that actually happened—I mean something like “embezzlement” for economic crime, “underage drinking” for public order crime, etc.
What would the perspective you’re using for that paragraph say is the cause of the crime?
What would that perspective say could prevent that crime? Why?
How would that perspective say that crime had changed over time?
Why?
Your final product should be three paragraphs of 3-5 sentences each. If you use any sources, remember to cite them.
