Write an essay (2 pages in length) in which you discuss the following issue: 1863 is called the Year of Decision during the Civil War – why do you believe this to be the case? Follow the 5 paragraph format – be sure you use specific examples to support your conclusions. You can also watch episode 4 and 5 of Ken Burns “The Civil War” to help with information for the reflection. You may visit the website civilwar.org and check out battle maps of the battles fought in 1863 to help you formulate your answer. Be sure you check out the PowerPoint for this week.
