Scenario

You have been an early childhood director in the same childcare program for 10 years. You are well respected within the early childhood community. You have a reputation for hiring and maintaining a professional, well-educated staff. Most of your staff has been employed at your center for a minimum of 5 years.

The early childhood coalition within your state has asked you to give a short presentation at the state’s annual conference. The topic will be “Combating Teaching Turnover.”

For this presentation, you are to design a PowerPoint presentation answering the following questions:
Identify realistic ideas for reducing teacher turnover?
Provide at least six (6) specific ideas.
What do you do to enhance the teacher experience in your center?
Provide at least three (3) strategies.
In what specific ways do you demonstrate appreciation for your staff?
Provide at least three (3) specific ways.
How do you support your staff in their own professional growth and development?
Provide at least three (3) strategies.

In other words, why are YOU so successful in combatting teacher turnover? What are you doing that might be different from other centers?

Requirements

Your PowerPoint presentation should be formatted as follows:
Cover Slide (a graphic would add to your PowerPoint)
Slides to cover your six (6) specific ideas for reducing teacher turnover
Slides to cover what enhances the teacher experience
Slides to cover how you demonstrate appreciation for your staff
Slides to cover how you support your staff in their professional growth and development
Slide for References

When formatting your PowerPoint presentation, use bullet points for lists and be sure your print is large enough to read if you were presenting to a small group. Visuals or images may be used.

Provide a comprehensive reference slide using APA format. List all resources used in your PowerPoint presentation including at least two (2) in-text citations from the module readings.
Each slide must include talking points in the notes section, as if you were giving this as a presentation. Talking points can be in bulleted format but in complete sentences. You should include at least eight (8) bulleted talking points in each slide’s notes section.

Use professional language including proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation for all slides and notes.
