Instructions: For this assignment, you (and your partner) will develop a proposal for a
communications plan. The purpose is to convince the instructor that you have a viable
scenario for a communication (public relations) plan. Your plan can be for: a launch
event, an issue, an education campaign, a political campaign, government
announcement, or the scenario of your choice.
Your 800 to 1,000-word proposal must include the following five elements:
1. An outline of the scenario with an explanation of the problem/opportunity.
2. Research: Discuss pertinent background details, how the plan links to the
organization’s goals, and any research you might conduct.
3. Analysis: Provide an overview of your goals/objectives (whether you aim to: inform,
educate, persuade), key points from SWOT, potential target audience.
4. Communicate: Provide a brief overview of key messages & strategy (tools, tactics,
action plan).
5. Evaluate: Provide a brief overview of your expected results and how you will
measure them.
Assignment Format:
• Must be submitted to the dropbox in PDF format
• Must be double-spaced and in 12-point font (Arial or Times New Roman)
• Headings and sub-headings must be used and formatted consistently
• Pages must be numbered
• Must have your names in the file name (eg: Marge.Lisa.Bart.Homer.PROPOSAL.pdf)
• Must be written in narrative, paragraph form (bulleted lists / tables acceptable where
appropriate)
• Must be between 500 to 800 words in length
Grading Instrument:
A formal assessment rubric will be provided; however, the assignment will be graded on
the following elements:
• Writing: proper narrative format in sentences and paragraphs; correct grammar,
spelling and punctuation
• Content: All five elements are included and outlined in concise detail.
