Semester Project
You have been hired as a Community Health Manager by a community health management board and asked to assess the community’s need for health requirements and develop a community health management plan. Your first job is to understand community health, community health issues and activities, regulatory agencies involved in community health, socioeconomic status and racial and ethnic disparities, health promotion programs, maternal, infant and child health issues, misuse and abuse of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, and scope of injuries in US health and economy.
Your response should include all topics covered in the textbook in a 40/50- page double-spaced document in APA format excluding the cover and reference pages that describes various aspects of your new position.
The semester project is divided into two parts: mid-term project and final semester project. The mid-term project paper covers chapters 1-7 of the textbook and the final semester project all chapters 1- 13. For the final project you would continue the mid-semester project into the final project.
Mid-Semester Project based on Chapters 1-7
Follow the textbook chapters 1-7 and discuss the following related to your new position. This document should be 15-20 pages long, double spaced in APA format excluding the cover and reference pages.
1. What do you understand by community health?
2. What are usual community health activities?
3. Which are the community health agencies in US?
4. Why community health managers should understand “epidemiology”.
5. What health promotion programs could be adopted in US communities?
6. Why is the need for “school health”? What is “coordinated school health program”? And, what are “foundations of school health program” and “Issues facing school health program”?
7. What issues need attention of community health manager for maternal, infant and child health?
8. Why is it important for community health manager to be aware of different health concerns of various age groups in US (adolescents, young adults, and adults) and what are the main health issues of these groups?
9. What are the health services provided to older adults in most communities
Final semester project – mid-semester project plus Chapters 8-13
10. Describe socioeconomic status and racial and ethnic disparities in health in US.
11. Explain the impact of diverse population in US as it relates to community health efforts.
12. Describe approaches that provide treatment and ongoing support to people with mental disorders.
13. Describe government and non-government efforts to prevent and control the misuse and abuse of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.
14. Distinguish between different kinds of healthcare: population-based public health medical practice, long-term practice, and end-of-life practice as it relates to community health management.
15. Explain the environmental hazards that affect community health and the role EPA plays in their monitoring and control?
16. Describe the scope and importance of injuries as a health and economic issues in US communities and measures that can prevent or minimize them.

The final project should be 40-50 double-spaced pages formatted in APA format containing cover page and reference pages.
