I am taking Community Planning Course. I need to write a community outreach introduction. Here is instruction:
This assignment is meant to get you to think through TWO community outreach activities, one in-person and one virtual. The result of the assignment will be two sets of instructions for running the outreach activities that we can send to our clients for their approval.
You must do two sets of instructions, and they should follow this format as closely as possible: Example on “Outreach Activity Assignment Guide” on Word doc
Here are the outreach activities to choose from. Choose one from each category.
Virtual activities
An existing conditions/visioning survey of residents before our visit to Acton
A virtual town hall meeting to present the results of our Acton open house before submitting our final documents
In-person activities
Open house station: visual preference survey of “rural character” to start a discussion about what the community would like to see in the future. This activity should give us guidance and ideas for any additional rural character policy changes.
Open house station: trail mapping and prioritization exercise. The final result should be a better understanding of which trails locals rely on and would like to see Parks and Rec maintain in the future.
What I’m looking for
You will not have all of the information needed to fill out the Word document fully. Do your best to fill it out anyway. Use your best educated guesses. If the Word document’s format doesn’t work perfectly for your chosen activity, modify it to suit your needs. Here’s what I’m going to be looking for when grading:
Completeness: Did you finish the document and fill in all areas?
Thoughtfulness: Did you think through your activities? Is the activity something that could actually work?
Readability: If I handed this directly to the client, would you be proud of it? Does it read well, with few spelling, grammar, and syntax mistakes?
My class has different 5 groups. which is Urban Design, Transportation, Land Use, Economic Development, and Environment.
