** MUST BE WRITTEN ADDRESSING DOWNTOWN SEATTLE COMMUNITY FOR COVID SAFETY TEACHING**
Use the information you presented about your health topic to the class last week and the feedback you received from peers, to form ideas to present to a local leader who can have some influence to make community level changes related to this topic. Once you have a clear idea of the issue, your understanding of the concerns, input from your group members, current resources, and potential solutions, then identify a way to make an impact on the community. What small change can be made in your community to address this issue? Identify a leader in the community you can reach out to and how that person could help. Your point is to advocate for some action on a health concern in your community. You are seeking information and giving your two-cents on the issue.
Make sure you have identified the right leader for the topic. If you have a teen related issue and want to suggest something about schools, you would likely contact a school board member, or a local school principal. If you want to talk about a park issue (lack of handicapped accessible swings), you would likely call the head of county parks and recreation.
Explain to the class one of the local leaders you could reach out to, how you would reach out and what you would want to know to gather more information on their position related to the topic and your ideas. What information could you add or provide the leader to help advance your idea? The point is to learn more about the issue and to advocate for a community level intervention.
