Compare and contrast Aristotle, Rousseau, and Marx’s theories of class conflict and how they proposed to resolve it.

• The purpose of the paper is to persuade the reader of the plausibility and coherence of your
argument. The reader should understand (although not necessarily agree) with your position and
the reasoning in support of it. Your writing should be clear, well worded and direct.
• The paper should put forth one (and only one) specific, clear position. Your position should be
made clear by the end of the first paragraph.
• The paper should be systematically developed so that each paragraph or set of paragraphs defends
each element of your position. Each paragraph should have a lead sentence. This sentence should
either expand your position or provide the reasoning for it. Every time you present a new idea,
you create a new paragraph.
• An analytic paper has a logical structure so that each idea connects to the next one and each idea
is introduced to support your overall argument. You are creating a road map to lead the reader to
your position. Exclude all unnecessary information as it detracts from and diminishes the force of
your argument.
• There should be a concluding paragraph. This paragraph summarizes the argument. Do not
introduce new ideas at this point; simply recap and give one last plug for your argument.
