Going Global Assignment: Some of us are from different parts of the world or have
family in other countries, some of us have traveled to or dream of traveling to different
countries, and some of just have an interest in other places. In this assignment you’ll do
your own academic research to compare/contrast a specific area of life (e.g., health
care, sex ed, pride events, rates of homophobia, approaches to gender, you name it!) in
two different parts of the world. You may choose the USA for one of the parts of the
world. You’ll find two journal articles (from peer-reviewed academic sources), one
popular press (that is mainstream, not specifically LGBTQ+) article, and one article,
documentary, or web resource (but no blogs or personal websites) from an LGBTQ+
source.
Submit a 2-3 page double-spaced, 1-inch margin,
Times New Roman font essay describing the topic and the information found.
This essay should draw from (and appropriately cite in APA or MLA style) your
source material both in the text and in your bibliography. You may write your
essay in one of three ways: (1) by choosing to give an overview of the topic and
its relation to your source material and how well you were able to find material
that addressed your concerns OR (2) by synthesizing the information in your
source material to create a solid informative overview of your topic OR (3) by
focusing on identifying and discussing the main questions about the issue that
were raised in your source material even if they remain unanswered
