Fauvism, Nonobjective Art, Expressionism. Mention at least one important work
and artist for each.
3. Who are the key players in the art movement
called Surrealism? Where did surrealist draw their inspiration? Which famous
surrealist painting speaks to you? Why? Feel free to use the Internet to answer
this question.
4. Which building material made the revolution of
twentieth-century architecture possible? Who is Frank Lloyd Wright? Describe
Bauhaus and the International Style. What are your thoughts on modern
architecture? Tell us about your dream house. Upload a picture from the
Internet.
5. Define Globalism. How does Globalism effect
today’s society? How does the media shape Globalism?
6. What circumstances, according to Simone de
Beauvoir, work to make the female “the Other”? Is it still “a
world that belongs to men”? Have you ever personally experienced feeling
like “the Other”? Explain. What is feminism? Are you a feminist?
Explain why. Choose one feminist artwork to describe and critique. Attach a
photo of the image.
7. Do additional research on the Internet
about Langston Hughes poem “Harlem.” Tell us what you learned. To
what extent do the circumstances described in this poem (written fifty years
ago) still pertain? How does the artwork of the African-American painters
and sculptors make public social concerns? Use at least one painting to help
explain your point. Do you feel that race relations and gender equality is
improving in the United States?
8. What is the Names Project? Describe in great
detail. What are your thoughts on this work? Is it important?
9. Who is ShirinNeshat? Do additional
research on the Internet to give us greater insight.
