Part 1: Online Intelligence Test
I’m
sure you’ve seen them: “intelligence tests” shared to Facebook with the
tag, “97% of Americans cannot pass this test. Can you?” Well,
regardless of how fun it may be to find out if you can correctly
identify the top 50 female artists of the 20th century, your
intelligence is not being reliably assessed, as I’m sure you already
know. However, there are several good (and lots of not so good)
intelligence tests to be found for free on the internet. For this
assignment, find 2 online intelligence tests (NOT personality tests) and
take them. Pay attention to the questions you are asked and your
results, as you will need them for Part 2.
Part 2: Written Assignment
Create
a 2-3 page document and set the margins to 1 inch, font to 12 point
Times New Roman, and the paragraph spacing to single spaced with 0
spacing before and after. Put your name in the top left corner, and
center the title, Activity 2: Intelligence Testing, two lines below your
name. Do not skip a line between the title and the first line of your
paper.
Give the names of both of the tests you took, and include a link to each one.
Compare
the two tests, then break down the results of each and explain how the
two results compared to each other. Use detail and complete sentences in
your description of the tests and your results.
Finally, use your textbook to answer the following 3 questions.
Do you feel these tests asked questions that accurately represent your intelligence? Explain why or why not.
Using terminology from Chapter 9,
explain if the intelligence tests were measuring crystallized
intelligence, fluid intelligence, or both. How did you arrive at your
answer?
Use your textbook (chapters 1 and 9) to assess the reliability and validity of each test.
