In this assignment, please add bibliographic information (in MLA format) for all of the items described below to the same Research Log document you created in the previous lesson (“Browsing for Topic Ideas”). Once you more clearly identify your topic, please write your research notes into the Research Log for at least one of the items, keeping in mind that you should have 5-10 items in the Research Log by the final portfolio (and at least 3 by the midterm portfolio). If one or more of the specific resources mentioned below is not be available at your campus’ online library, simply note that in your assignment and move on to determine if your campus’ library includes other resources described.
Use your research topic to complete the following steps (please cite all sources in MLA format):
Using Academic Search Complete (Ebsco), locate two more articles about your topic (or as close to it as possible). What do you think these articles could teach you that the others couldn’t? Explain.
Using LexisNexis Academic, locate two more articles about your topic. What could you learn from these articles?
Using Project Muse or JSTOR, locate 1-2 scholarly articles about your topic. As articles in Project Muse and JSTOR are scholarly, what information about your topic would be most important to locate from this database?
Go into your campus library’s “Catalogue” and locate 1-2 books that might provide you information about topic. Why would these books be helpful for your research?
Are there any other places you could go to find information about your topic? List the possibilities, and explain how they might be helpful in providing answers to your research question.
