The discussion this week will be around complementary and alternative treatments. Patients sometimes prefer not to take traditional medications and will ask providers about alternate treatments. It is important we know what these treatments are and what the literature says about their use. What are the treatments? What are the risks? Are they proven effective for certain mental health conditions? You will analyze literature and provide information to improve outcomes. choose a complementary alternative approach to research and describe what it is, what the risks versus the benefits are, and what the recommendations based on the literature are. Do the risks outweigh the benefits? Does the evidence support strongly that these approaches are effective and if not, how do you approach this with a patient?
