Complete a Rough Draft for a Persuasive Essay

Logistics: 5-6 pages double-spaced, one-inch margins, Times New Roman 12pt font, MLA Works Cited page with in-text citations throughout.
Assignment:
In the last essay, you analyzed an author’s argument; in this essay, you’ll create your own argument based on research. Persuasive writing is a genre of writing that uses rhetoric and a specific structure to persuade others to think or act a certain way.
Your task is to compose a researched, thesis-support proposal that articulates a primary claim advocating how an issue within your topic should be solved or why solving his particular problem should take a priority over other concerns. As per the classical argument structure, the essay should support your claim with reasons that are in turn backed up by well-documented evidence. You also will summarize and respond to opposing views.
As we will discuss in class, you will have quite a range in determining an issue within your conversation. In turn, you will be responsible for finding at least four sources of research that discuss/respond to your topic.
Purpose:
To compose a classical argument, as well as build upon your skills of research and analysis developed in prior units.
To try to persuade readers to agree with you about a particular course of action
Audience:
Instructor and classmates in ENG 109 who may agree, disagree, or remain neutral on your topic.
