Here is the outline of this assignment:
1. What concept from our class would you like to work on for the final project? You can pick one from the list or bring in one that isn’t mentioned.
– I chose the concept of Coming of Age movie to work on for the final project.
2. What interests you about this concept and why do you think it warrants further study?
– Movies about coming of age describe the experience of growing up and transitioning from one stage of life to another that everyone can identify. Even in the most puzzling movie set in another country or time in history, viewers can relate to the characters and reflect on their own experiences.
–
3. The project requires you to include at least two of the films from our course within your project OR one film/video from the course PLUS one film/video from outside our course. Indicate which films you’d like to work with and how they can support your project.
– Call me by your name (2017): It is realistic and is supposed to bring viewers back to their first love or breakup, which is why it is so emotional.
– Lady bird (2017): Lady Bird is a teen drama that marks the major milestones of senior year that we’ve seen from Pretty In Pink to Mean Girls, over-hyped love affairs, struggles in academics, it all leads to the climax of the prom then the plunge into the uncertainty of the university.
4. This project requires you to include at least 2 sources from this course (e.g. readings, articles, video interviews, etc.).Indicate which two sources you will use to help inform your project and explain how they will help you.
– Link to another interview with Dee Rees that was published in Film Journal International.

5. What form will your project take? You can choose one from the list (e.g. report, presentation, infographic, video blog (vlog), blog post, podcast episode) OR think of your own.
– I will choose presentation form for this project.
