The Constructive Argument Essay is a 5 page essay that takes a stand on an important issue
that is dividing your community or creating problems between communities.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
Successful constructive argument essays should effectively accomplish the following goals,
which are further explained in module resources:
*the issue (in other words, provides context for understanding the issue)
* Presents your position on the issue clearly and persuasively
* Uses a combination of logos, pathos, and ethos to develop your argument
* Provides sufficient evidence to support your claims
*Demonstrates fairness and generosity and finds common ground when appropriate
Essays will be evaluated on how successfully they accomplish these goals, though
writers can accomplish these goals in a variety of ways
