Consumer rights in India

Member 1: Prepare a theoretical base for the project by collecting and compiling the following information
Explaining the issue: the reason for choosing this particular issue
Exploring the Roots of the Problem (Focus on India) – How were the consumers exploited in the market?
How did the consumer movement start in India and how has it progressed till date
Member 2: Collect and compile information on Enactment of COPRA in 2019. You must cover information on the six rights under COPRA namely:
Right to safety
Right to be informed
Right to choose
Right to seek redressal
Right to represent
Right to consumer education

Member 5: Visit a consumer redressal forum/ RWA/ consumer redressal court and research on their proceedings. In case primary data is not available, secondary data can be used with specific acknowledgments. The case study should cover the following points:
Introduction of the group
How have they raised awareness and gathered support for the cause?
How do they help/support consumers in filing the case and with further proceedings
What are the challenges

For the Project File:
Use A4 size white /colored inter-leaf pastel sheet
Each member should write their individual parts, and the group must compile that in a single file
The project report should be of minimum of 25 pages
Use pictures, photographs, newspaper clippings to augment your research and presentation. These should be neatly labeled.
Each project report should have the following parts:
A cover page
A table of contents
Project report
Questionnaire (as evidence – only the master copy)
Diagrams, graphs and tabular presentation of the data collected (computer graphics can be used here)
Conclusion/observations from the primary research
Detailed case study
Bibliography (includes reference of books, journals, newspapers, online resources with URL link)
Refer to the NCERT textbook Ch- 5 with the guidelines on Consumer Rights and also use the following websites to research further:
