Read the journal article: Resource and Public Goods Dilemmas: A New Issue for Communication Research
Research the three categories of Social Value Orientation and locate a real world social dilemma.

People generally fall into one of three categories of SVO: cooperative, individualistic, or competitive. While most people want to bring about positive outcomes for all (cooperative orientation), certain types of people are less concerned about the outcomes of others (individualistic), or even seek to undermine others in order to get ahead (competitive orientation).

I have to evaluate how the individual benefits and how this particular dilemma harms the collective group. Also, discuss Social Value Orientation and how it might apply to the concept of self-interest vs. cooperation. I must also discuss what the prisoner’s dilemma is, and how it models social dilemmas.
