Each student will pick a country of your own interest (I choose Malaysia). Do research on this country applying what you have learnt from this course.
In specific, find out the following:
Its political, economic, and legal systems, e.g., find out where the country is on the spectrum of collectivism—individualism, democracy—totalitarianism, market economy—command economy, common law vs. civil law vs. theocratic law systems. Please provide some brief explanation, and benchmark with the US.
Its economic development, e.g., its latest GDP, GNI per capita (nominal and PPP), HDI, currency it uses and its exchange rate with USD. Provide some brief assessment of its economic development level, and benchmark with the US.
Its culture, including characteristics of social structure, the composition of religions/ethical systems, languages, scores on Hofstede indexes, other unique/interesting cultural aspects, and benchmark with the US.
You are expected to submit a PowerPoint file containing needed notes. Please list references on the last slide. The project will be evaluated based on whether the contents are clear, logical, demonstrating relevant research and application of course materials, and also whether the visual is professional, attractive, and without typos.
