Instructions: Create a presentation of a plan for how you will reach the desired profit goal. Submit a script for what you would say if you were giving an actual presentation. You can use the Notes section of PowerPoint, submit a Word document, or some other means. To be clear, you should write your script exactly as if you were giving a presentation.
As you formulate your plan, remember that it costs money to make money. So, if your plan is to increase corporate partnerships, keep in mind that it may cost money in areas like labor and office supplies to generate this additional revenue. Likewise, if you say you will increase ticket sales (meaning more fans at the game), then game day expenses will likely increase as well. In short, the net profit increase must be $340,000 while factoring in both revenues and expenses.
You will be evaluated on how realistic and feasible your proposal is. Plans that suggest ways to increase revenue without considering how corresponding expenses might increase will not be evaluated favorably. Likewise, proposals that do not consider the “human element” behind the numbers will not be evaluated favorably. For example, how might employees react if their office supply budget is decreased or if their benefits (e.g., health insurance, retirement, etc.) are cut? Or, how might fans react if parking charges increase? Thorough proposals will look beyond the numbers and consider human psychology as well.
