It involves a literature review, data discovery, and crafting a methodology for conducting a data-driven, decision-oriented, crime and justice policy study.

Topic: Sexual Assault in U.S. academic instiutions. I would like to investigate the frequency of legal action taken against reported sexual assault in U.S. academic instiutions. At the moment I am mainy motivated to research this issue in higher education settings, I believe this topic is highly relevant with sexual assault being an ongoing reported crime at universities across the country. As someone who has seen it happen with no reprecussion on the abuser, I would like to further investigate how frequent it is for a case to be fully legally investiaged once reported.
