Choose an organization with which you are familiar, and discuss
the following:
Interview a manager who has been
involved in change in their organization. This could be one of your
classmates who is or has previously been a manager.
Ask them to describe the change,
what they were trying to accomplish, and what happened.
After the interview, describe the
processes of the change, “what” was being changed, and
“how” things were changed.
N.B: Be sure to practice your qualitative techniques. For example, think
about your questions before the interview; try to understand the situation from
the perspective of your respondent; check your understanding by letting your
respondent know what you think has been said; etc. Again, take this opportunity
to improve your qualitative research skills.
