Your final writing assignment is a response piece about two lessons you’ve learned from either the novel you’ve read (1984/Brave New World) or the play Macbeth. It is partly about understanding of themes, but mostly about critical thinking and insight on how they apply to our society today or you personally.
You are to write a 400-600 word critical response on what you consider the universal applicability of two of its main themes and how they lead to lessons about the world or about how the individual can live in the world.
Incorporate four quotations to support your thinking (two per lesson). Quotations should follow MLA format [i.e. (Huxley 281) or (Orwell 45)] if possible for novel and Act-Scene-Line for Macbeth [i.e. “Had I but died an hour before this chance,/I had lived a blessèd time” (II.iii.107-108)]. If you do not have page numbers in your Brave New World edition, then just refer to the chapter number you took the quotation from.
