Critical Thinking

This essay is an opportunity for you to showcase the many new writing and critical thinking skills you have acquired by writing thoughtfully about what you have learned.
Please write a 600-word essay using examples from the readings this term. Be sure to use grammatically correct, vivid, and effective language.
Your essay must include references to any three of the following short stories or poems: The Monkeys Paw, The Gift of the Magi, The Little Match Girl, The Story of an Hour, The Highwayman, Shakespeares Sonnets 18 & Sonnet 130, Invictus, The New Colossus or She Being Brand. You may add any other sources you find useful to your presentation. Please include a properly formatted MLA style Works Cited page listing the stories, poems and other sources you use.
Please craft an analytical essay that focusses on literary elements, (e.g., theme, tone, point of view, plot, etc.) and/or devices employed by the authors (e.g., simile, metaphor, symbolism, alliteration, foreshadowing, imagery, etc.) and/or the critical thinking terms (i.e., wisdom, human nature, truth, justice, freedom and virtue).
You may use ideas you developed in your earlier essays.
Be sure to demonstrate as many of the writing techniques taught this semester as possible. For example, for this essay, please write in the third person only and use formal vocabulary.
