Cultural Research Project

You have been promoted to lead a team at your organization’s location overseas. Your supervisor has asked you to prepare for your position by creating an executive summary filled with facts
about the region in which you will be working. This assignment needs to include

Facts & Statistics about the region such as population, density, geography, and etc.
Economic data; GDP, imports/exports, currency
Etiquette information
Hofstede Score & analysis
Pertinent laws,
Significant religious issues.
Significant current issues.
A snapshot leadership profile. Choose a person from this country who is a standout leader and displays the characteristics needed to be a leader in this country. Think of this as a much more brief version of your previous assignment, except that you will ideally pick a real person, not a mythological figure.
Where applicable this information should be accompanied by comparison data. Visual appeal of
the document is also important. Projects must also include citations to accurately source your
material. You may complete this assignment using Word or PowerPoint. While you are encouraged to think creatively, please check with me before trying another format.

Further notes & tips:
Your project may include graphs & charts taken from the internet. Cite them. It is also wise to offer some description of the chart. If you can’t give a general explanation, don’t use it. Also, make sure it is readable. If I can’t tell what the data is about, then it’s useless.
Some information is best written in a table. For instance, I wouldn’t write out sentences to describe the GDP. Make that information clearly visible, you don’t want someone to hunt for it.
Compare: this information needs to be in a context. Just like you don’t care that the Japanese use the Yen as their currency without knowing how much that means in USD– then don’t include tell me how many square miles unless you can give me something to compare that to as well.
Culture: Point out two main differences between their culture and the US’. I would think a great project would copy & paste the definition from the Hofstede site, then briefly write what that might mean in plain, practical terms.
Be practical. If you were going to this country, think about what information you would want to know to enjoy your time there, but also conduct business…and not get arrested.
Screenshots: If you don’t know how to take a screenshot and use it in your project then google it. It’s easy.
