Culture Identity Reflection

*Now that you have read
Oluo and viewed the TEDTalk by Crenshaw, how would you combine their views on
what intersectionality is so that it becomes one definition? What elements do
you take from Crenshaw? From Oluo?
*Based on Oluo and
Crenshaw where intersectionality does it fit in the concept of cultural identity?
How does intersectionality compare with (and contrast with) identity conflict.
When you think about your life and/or the lives of others around you, what
examples of intersectionality do you see? As an educator at your chosen grade
level, why do you think that awareness of intersectionality might be important?
*Both Oluo and Crenshaw
address steps to take in dealing with intersectionality-what to do and what
should be done. How can you take what Oulu and Crenshaw advocate and adapt that
to a school/classroom setting? What, as a teacher, can you do regarding
intersectionality.
(NOTE: Although this
prompts may seem short, you will really need to think deeply about this in
order to have a good reflection, so do not wait until the
last minute to start this assignment! I want to see that you
have incorporated BOTH Oluo and Crenshaw into your responses). Be sure to
provide citations and references where appropriate.
